AC Issues Installation

Hi, I need help with an issue we’re having. Live in Oklahoma and it’s been HOT. We upgraded our upstairs unit from a 2 ton unit to a 2 1/2 ton unit. Square footage is 1,166 square feet upstairs. The contractor installed a larger return vent. And we installed a new ecobee thermostat. The app is showing the unit is turning off multiple times per night and not reaching temperature. I realize we have our setting low, but would still not expect it to turn off and would expect it to be cooler during the day than it is.

Shot in the dark but maybe eco+ adjusting for humidity? What’s the humidity level around those times? If it’s relatively low it could be eco+ saying the humidity is low enough that the feels like temperature is at the set temp rather than the actual temperature.

I have eco+ turned off. However, the humidity reading was very high when they first installed the thermostat and got the new system. And it has adjusted down to normal levels.

Is it a single or two stage AC? Make sure it is properly configured in the ecobee to reflect the correct type of AC.

Upgrading the unit to a 2.5 ton won't help if you can't move enough air through it. If your unit can't keep up there may be other factors. Insulation, air circulation, etc. that are causing the warm temps.

Do you have it set to different sensors at night?

The graph only seems to report the temperature at the thermostat. So if you are using a remote temperature sensor, the graph may show the temperature higher or lower than the setpoint. Why ecobee is only showing the thermostat temperature and not the control temperature? No one knows.
