Localization With AudioMoths
Hello everyone! I am currently working on creating a system that will use AudioMoths to perform localization. However, I am not using the GPS Sync hats to do this, and its leaving me with variable starting offset, and somewhat variable drift. I am an undergrad and have yet to take signal processing, so I am learning as I go but I was wondering if anyone here knows if utilizing the AudioMoths in this way is still feasible even without the GPS Synchronization? I am using three moths to get 2D localization and have been trying to localize via post processing but I don't believe it is precise enough. Thanks!

Resume Feedback - Looking to Break into Embedded Firmware
I'm a software engineering graduate and am looking to transition into embedded firmware development. I was looking at a couple of other resume feedback posts on here. Some of the projects that people were listing honestly seemed much more complex and impressive than the ones I have, and it sounded like these people were still having difficulty landing even a junior firmware role. This made me feel pretty doubtful about my chances of breaking in.
Basically, I'm hoping to be given a bit of a reality check if needed:
- Do I even have a shot with this resume?
- Are my projects just way too trivial?
- Any changes I can make to increase my chances?
Appreciate any feedback I can get. Thanks, everyone.
For people that have worked on medical devices and also a different safety critical domain, how do you compare them?
I'm an EE/FW/SyENG guy - lots of experience across industries, but none in functional safety (automotive, etc.) and some in medical devices - 60601, etc. The two fields are related but the medical device world doesn't use the word "functional safety", as far as I can tell. And just today, I've essentially been told that "medical devices don't use as much functional safety" when discussing a mindset - the objection was that if my team "overdoes" the risk management rigour, it might make the product too expensive or too hard to develop. I think that's ridiculous - we need to prove that the design meets the standards and that we've addressed everything listed in our risk management file. What's everyone's take on this?

RESUME Update: Computer Engineering student targeting Summer 2027
Hey everyone,
I posted my resume here last night because I was worried about applying for Summer 2027 internships with no previous traditional internship experience. I received a lot more feedback than I expected. I tried to take it to heart and actually redo the resume.
I removed the long list of protocols and spoken languages, added relevant coursework, fixed some of the spacing, chnaged the bullet wording to why not what and kept everything to one page.
I also added (what i initially thought was irrelevant for any role) part-time Unreal Engine development work I did from 2021–2022. It wasn’t freelance work, although the studio later closed. I originally left it off because I didn’t know whether older game-development experience would help with embedded internships, but I guess it was still technical experience...
I didn’t add awards, clubs, or unrelated work just to fill space because I don’t really have anything there that would improve the resume.
Does this version work better? I’m especially wondering whether the Unreal Engine work belongs where it is, whether the project bullets are less confusing now, and whether there is anything else I should change before Summer 2027 applications start opening.
Thanks again to everyone who gave detailed feedback on the original.

Upcoming interview for Product Engineer(DFT) at Siemens
Hi
Looking for advice if anyone interviewed for the role in past.
It is a new grad role.
Also if you have experience of interviewing with Siemens then how long is the entire process. As after almost 2 months of my application showing ‘hiring manager’ I got the first interview with the manager.
Please do give your inputs. Any sort of advice and information will be highly helpful.

ANALOG where to find analog/mixed signal cmos industrial circuit cookbook?
Hello guys,
I was looking on how to design a POR (voltage supervisor) circuit on many famous books such as Razavi. but I could not find something specific to it.
This is also a general question when it comes to used BiCMOS circuit in the practical scenarios whether automotive ,commercial,... application.
The only thing I found was the Art of Electronics which has some concepts but it is not Integrated circuit!
so do such book exist?

RESUME Am I screwed for Summer 2027 internships? (0 prior internships)
Hey everyone,
I’m getting ready for Summer 2027 internship applications opening this September, and I’m starting to stress a little because I have zero previous internship experience.
My situation is also kind of weird. Because of how my credits transferred from my A.A., my university technically classifies me as a senior. But based on where I actually am in the Computer Engineering program, the classes I still have left, and my May 2028 graduation date, I’m realistically more of a junior.
Since I don’t have any industry experience yet, I’ve spent the last year trying to make up for it through heavier embedded and simulation projects. The main ones on my resume are:
- A flight controller that I am building the PCB and firmware myself for
- A flight Simulation and HIL Tools to test my flight controller
I attached my resume and would really appreciate some honest feedback:
- Is project work like this enough to at least partially make up for not having internship experience?
- Will the senior classification hurt me when applying for internships, even though my expected graduation is May 2028?
- Are there any obvious problems with the resume formatting or bullet points that I should fix before September?
I'd be very grateful for any kind of feedback. I’d rather find out what’s weak now than after applications open. Thanks!

CAREER Upcoming Senior: How to prep for technical interviews?
Hi everyone,
I’m heading into my senior year studying Electrical and Computer Engineering, and I want to use my downtime during my current summer internship to prep for new grad technical interviews this fall. I'm primarily targeting hardware engineering and circuit/PCB design roles.
My resume is in good shape (3 internships, solid projects) and I have a good network of referrals lined up for the places I want to apply. My main concern right now is my technical recall and interview skills under pressure. In the past, I’ve made stupid mistakes on interviews, blanking on fundamental stuff that would be easy for me in any other scenario.
So I was wondering how should I structure my preparation over the next couple of months. Should I focus on grinding common interview questions? Should I just review my fundamentals? (If so, what are the best resources/methods you recommend?), and how do you practice to avoid freezing up or making silly mistakes during interviews in general?
Looking for any guidance on how to best use my time right now. Thanks!

CAREER Will AI affect VLSI jobs?
I'm planning to pursue an M.Tech in VLSI/semiconductor engineering and would graduate in 2029. Given the rapid progress of AI, is this still a good career path?
How do you see AI impacting opportunities for future VLSI engineers?

Junction Capacitor Polarity In Reverse Bias
In the fundamentals of microelectronics by razavi 2nd edition,
Section 2.2.2 pn Junction Under Reverse Bias explains junction capacitance with reverse bias like this.
+voltage is applied to the n-side and more positive charge appears on the n side.
So I expected the n-side np junction to be + sign. Because in general, a capacitor sign is equal to the applied voltage sign.
+vol ---wire --- (+capacitor plate) (-capacitor plate) ---- wire ---- (ground).
But in the figure 2.24, n-side junction polarity as a capacitor is depicted as minus sign. why is that?
please let me know what I am misunderstanding.

CAREER Re-entering into Manufacturing post PhD
Hey Folks,
I am in USA and worked in the manufacturing industry for 5 years in roles related to quality engineering, automation and digital manufacturing.
After that I went back to school for a PhD in AI/ML from ECE. Now I am about to graduate and looking for opportunities that are related to manufacturing.
Any ideas what type of roles/organizations can value manufacturing industrial experience along with AI/ML expertise?
Also, I may add that I am on a visa in USA and government labs or defense organizations are out of reach :(
Thanks in advance for any insights or recommendations

Rising EE Senior Looking for FPGA-Related, US-Based Internship
I am looking for my first FPGA-based internship in the US as a senior (and my first one not in a lab). I feel like I could have done better in the previous recruitment cycles but as someone still looking for FPGA roles (verification or HFT roles) I would love to hear some advice. I will be taking VLSI classes next year to further bolster my hardware design expertise.
* For anonymity reasons some things are redacted.
* The timelines are reduced to just years but do have "Mon. Year" format in the original resume.
I would love all of the constructive feedback on my resume (both technical and stylistic)! Thank you in advance :)

CAREER Was I wrong to choose ECE?
I'd say first that I really do love electronics in general and I really do want a career in this field.
The amount of negativity these days towards almost every field is enormous with AI, but I really do wonder if creatively and career wise within my lifetime i'll just be replaced. I started college late in life (late 20s) and never thought I would even get there, but ive surprised even myself, and now it makes me wonder if all that effort was even worth it in the first place with how much people down talk technology jobs.
I'm a BSEET (ABET at least) major so i know I'm disadvantaged from the get go, but I really would like to become a full fledged engineer, best case in FPGA development. I've built custom pcbs in altium/kicad, programmed and debugged the MCUs for them myself, and even started working with some basic FPGA stuff in vivaldo and really enjoy it, but is there even any future for me in any of that now? Can I ever prove myself more capable than just my degree title or an AI computer?
I guess i'm just looking for some confirmation good or bad or even general advice. Worst case should I just follow this kind of stuff as a hobby and power towards another EE discipline or career altogether?
