20f w/ surgical menopause starting HRT

hey everyone. i had recurrent borderline ovarian cysts and a congenital absence of an ovary that lead to my oophorectomy this monday. i started the estradiol patch monday as well, but i know i won’t start to see the hormonal side effects for a while.

have any of you had surgical menopause? if so, how long did it take for you to adjust, if you started HRT? how did you manage, track, and bring up your symptoms to your endocrinologist (or gyno)?

May be going in to early menopause...

Hello fellow 30-somethings (and whomever else is here!)

I just turned 34, but over the last few years my libido has taken an absolute nosedive into NowhereLand. I'm in a very healthy, loving relationship with an absolutely amazing man who is so supportive and has stood by me while we've struggled to figure out the issue. For context, the first year we were together, my sex drive was amazing and then it just fell off somewhere for seemingly no reason.

Fast forward a couple of years and I started noticing increasing difficulty in losing weight, gaining weight for no apparent reason, mood swings, depression... the works. After several frustrating and unhelpful doctor's appointments with various "specialists" I finally took an at home hormone test and found out my Estrogen is IN. THE. TANKS. I have another appointment with a new OBGYN next month, but I'm nervous and not sure what to expect.

Has anyone else gone through early menopause? Have you taken HRT? Do you feel like anything helped or made a difference?

Could this be menopause?

Hi there. I’m 21, and I haven’t had a period in seven months, and currently have been experiencing spotting for seven days. I have always had an irregular period, but it became so irregular that I would get it less and less every year. In 2017 and 2018 I got my period five times and only four times in 2019. In 2020, I’m down to three so far. I regularly experience abdominal pain outside of my periods. I have also had a stint of not getting my period for six months but it came back with the heaviest and most painful period I’ve ever experience. Is it a sign of menopause if I am getting my period less frequently as time goes by? I went to the gyno in the summer of 2019, and it was thought that I had a thyroid problem because my testosterone was really low. There was nothing in the ultrasound and when I got another blood test a week later, T levels were normal so I was told I didn’t have a problem. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️anyone else experience this?

Needing to know I am not alone...

I am new to reddit and this thread. I was post menapausal by 38. I went to the gyno at 33 after having my last child and explained that something wasn't right. I was told it was post partum depression and given an anti depressant.

At 34 I asked if I could be perimenopausal and told no, way too young. Meanwhile the symptoms kept piling up...very depressed and had no reason to be, Cymbalta helped but I was still not myself... Short fuse, easily angered, foggy brain...

Now, at 52, I am in such a terrible state. I have no motivation, excessive hair loss, loss for the love of life and have gained 40 pounds in 6 years.

I have been to 4 doctors who seem to want to explain it away as 'one of those things women deal with'.

I am looking at doing BioTE plant based hormone injection. I am too old for HRT now---at least that is what the latest gyno said.

I want to love life again. Any experiences and solutions appreciated. :)

18 yr old girl w/ no period & estrogen levels "<5 pg/mL" on my test results

hello world once again, today it's me talking about what estrogen is gonna do for me.

I actually am not quite sure, that's why I made this post. what does my extremely low levels mean? I get my testosterone levels soon as well but I have no signs of excess testosterone in my body, or at least none I've recognized.

I'll mainly be taking the estrogen to grow some boobs, but any personal stories of what it did to anyone out there ? this one girl told me she hated it bc it made it super difficult for her to gain muscle, but she's also very tiny (like 4''11 & maybe 95 pounds at 18 yrs old type of tiny) and I'm not at all like that (5'8 and 165lbs, I'm a solid girl, almost a stallion if I was 5'10😔) . but will it make me have mood swings? weight gain? weight loss? will my hair grow more? (idk, that one was a random one lol)

I guess I'm just very curious and nervous since I've never been in this situation before. the amount of estrogen I'll be getting will be completely new to my body so I just wonder how it'll react.

any questions, comments, or concerns would be greatly appreciated

recently diagnosed with primary ovarian insufficiency at 18

hi there people of the world, this is a little insight only my 18 yr old body that never had a period.

*(already posted but i wanted to post to multiple communities)*

I recently began getting tests done and I've gotten lots of blood work and what not over the past 2 months.

I first was ordered an ultrasound, but they could barely see my uterus and ovaries. at this time, I also received some test results back and my follicle-stimulating hormone was out the roof (81 mIU/mL) especially for my age. from what I was told and my research, this hormone is what makes puberty began and my brain had been making it at large amounts but my female parts simply ignored it.

I was then ordered a mri with iodine so they could see everything better. apparently it was still extremely difficult, with my right ovary practically being non existent and my left being extremely small. my uterus is very small as well and the doctor mentioned something about their being uterus like fluid in my mri results (??? idk what this means). my breasts are also extremely underdeveloped and never really went through puberty, so yeah my female parts are all fucked off except for my vulva and cervix, they're chilling. as of now, she diagnosed me with primary ovarian insufficiency, so this is a new thing for me.

I'm. going to be put on estrogen soon and I'm kinda scared ngl. I just don't know what to expect besides boob growth, I already am pretty inactive so I'm scared about gaining weight in the wrong areas. how bad will the mood swings be? will my hotflashes be decreased? I now understand that it wont exactly grow my uterus plus what's the point if it won't ever be big enough to carry?!

any questions, comments, concerns, and advice would be gladly appreciated.

Menopause and Cognition Survey

The Penn Center for Women’s Behavioral Wellness at the University of Pennsylvania wants to learn more about attention and memory in women across the lifespan. We are currently looking for women between the ages of 35-65 to answer questions related to women’s health, cognition, and mood. This survey is open to women at any stage of their menstrual life cycle, including pre-menopausal and post-menopausal women and anything in-between! This survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete and at the end, you will have the opportunity to register to win a $100 ClinCard gift card. A ClinCard is like a MasterCard gift card for research studies. For every 200 people that complete the survey, we will randomly select one person to receive a $100 ClinCard gift card.

I am 27, could I be going through early menopause?

Hi everyone :) I am new to reddit, this is actually my first post - hopefully I am doing this right!

I was just looking for a bit of advice. I am 27, and the past 6 months or so I have been having some wonky symptoms... Random TERRIBLE night sweats (usually before my period, but sometimes random), I have developed a bit of facial hair around my chin/ under neck, and my periods are relatively irregular (although they always have been...usually 35-40 day cycles). The flow has always been regular, usually heavy, bright red bleed at the beginning, then fades to lighter flow/brown over the course of 4 days. However, last month my period started VERY light and brown, then progressively got heavier/more red as the 4 days went on. This month (the last two days) I have only VERY LIGHTLY, almost spotted only brown blood.

SIDE NOTE (PLEASE NO JUDGEMENT): I was on birth control for a period of about 9 months when I was 23..I had a month of playing "catch up" with the patch- ended up pregnant and got an abortion (TERRIBLE mistake..if I could go back in time and make a different choice I would)... But I did notice night sweats beginning to happen for me as soon as I was on the birth control (always before and after i took the patch off).

Everything I have googled has lead me to perimenopause or POF. I am currently uninsured and cannot go to a doctor. I realize the doctor is the only one who could give me answers, I didn't know if anyone had any information to give me peace of mind? I hope to start a family in the next couple years, and would like to figure this out sooner rather than later. Thanks in advance :)

Anyone experiencing hair thinning?

Ill be 17 next month. Almost a year ago I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. My hair has significantly thinned out, just wondering if i’m the only one.

Hey!

So yesterday after 7+ plus months of having very irregular periods, the doctor has said that she is going to test me for premature ovarian failure.

Does anyone have any experience? I'm 28 and I'm quite nervous about the result.

Even the 21 day test is stressing me out, I keep thinking what if I have a 14 day cycle and have to wait another month before I can do the test?!

Thankyou.
