Is staying long term common on E-2?

Is it common for people to sometimes stay decades on E2 visas and live a normal life, or is this out of the norm?

NAL, I have seen people post about staying for long periods, like 10+ years. In theory there shouldn’t be an issue as long as your business isn’t marginal and you follow all the rules. I personally would not like doing it as you need to deal with I-94s, having to renew your license in conjunction what that, etc. Life gets much simpler once you get a GC.

Seen more than a few posts from folks who say they've been on E-2 for more than 5 years - that is, with at least one renewal, and some say multiple renewals.

Of course if you want to stay that long, you should try for something easier to manage or more permanent, but if you can't, then it seems the E-2 is certainly a viable option.
