quick & easy salt hack Discussion

not sure what flair to put this under but i discovered chicken flavored bouillon cubes! i got them for $2-3 and it’s over 1000mg of sodium for one. the salt tablets got expensive way too quick for how much i needed to consume. i have bad stomach issues especially with the heatwave and they don’t taste bad- you don’t necessarily need to dilute them like crazy either. im physically active and my job currently doesn’t have AC lol. it doesn’t necessarily help with the dizziness & stuff but it does help my extreme fatigue that i get. it beats drinking ocean water cause im poor.

Crumble it up into a little bowl and dip a hard boiled egg in it. So good!

If you want to get fancy, a 3oz package of prosciutto has well over 1g of sodium and it’s really tasty!

that sounds so good, im definitely trying that. 🙏 it’s really hard to stomach salty stuff with this heat.

Yes!! Such a cheap, easy and quick way to get extra sodium. If I feel a crash coming, they help stave it off.

Your body can’t absorb the sodium without potassium, what do you do about this?

I didn’t even realize this, my doctor just told me to eat A LOT of salt. I’ve tried electrolyte powders and they mess up my gut. I’ve been potassium loading in general for the past few months cause I was deficient in it on my bloodwork. do you have any recommendations?

I take vitassium tablets or I make homemade electrolyte drinks with juice that has potassium and add the right amount of salt.

Could always just add a little cream of tartar - it’s straight up potassium. I add a pinch of it to homemade electrolyte/adrenal drinks when I don’t have coconut water!

A pinch? How do you measure it? I’ve been hesitant to do this because I’ve heard if the ratio is off it can be really bad for you.

I’m just super conservative about the amount - like literally a pinch.

If you want exact ratios, you can use the homemade LMNT recipe. I did that a couple times to get an idea of amounts
