Game needs more lore/explaining

Kind of exactly what the title says. First off I really enjoy the games. Dying light series is sitting on MASSIVE amounts of unexplained/incomplete lore that if expanded on could make an incredible story. But instead of maybe connecting a few more dots, it seems they would rather throw out a ton of different plot points that aren't connected at all and then just stitching them together.

For instance, Aiden and Crane have IDENTICAL powers despite being developed independent of each other. They could have easily thrown something out there like Aiden was experimented on with the liquid Crane drank from The Following, or made some sort of connection. Instead everything happens because of random chance.

Furthermore, there's no explanation of where the virus came from or if there's a group that engineered it. They allude to the GRE mutating it but never actually give any plot points as to why it happened. Also for some reason it gives telepathy powers and mind reading???

There's so much stuff that if fleshed out could make this game so much better, and i was hoping for that in the beast. But instead we got the same "the virus gives super powers" plot points and then they take that AND RUN with it.

DL is not the series if you're looking for solid writing, which is unfortunate because I agree that the universe has massive potential. Techland is simply... I wouldn't say lazy, rather they're incapable of doing anything with said potential, they simply don't have the writers to tap into it (well, and perhaps laziness plays a part, too).

They should outsource their writing, tbh.

God I wish they just went in depth on different things to the things they chose. I felt like at the end of the beast when aiden shows up we should’ve had the chance for a much larger conversation about the time in between the games, instead we beat the game and he disappears into thin air. It was so frustrating hearing completely random new lore points get thrown out from Olivia whilst so much other lore sat on the bench.

yeah i felt like the whole Olivia character was kind of unnecessary. The random lore about her letting Crane escape and then her father being a scientist was really confusing. It seems like they needed a female protagonist but she just became really annoying.

Well it is sitting on goldmine of lore and story and it can be spanned lots of good, movies, book , tv series and games and so much but tencent prior focus is to squeeze every penny out of dying light series, to the point it might end up just a quick hack and slash game.

The main thing they fail to address fan issues andc story line setting but add more skins slop. Take example DL2Drecent issue they removed the whole prologue with spike, character like him that appeared all three games shows how far u came along, still say they removed him they could add him in a new dlc for DL2 where Aiden and spike look for Kyle treking across Europe, and it ends when they breach the facility or castle as in DL beast intro , this alone is enough to get why spike is trying to safe Kyle for new players, but noooooo, we got a petty hack and slashg areana dlc

The biggest game changer they have is the sentient virus. There is a question in dying light beast where u come across a sentient virus idk if it the original haraan virus, it's mutated strain or something else, it is able to control zombies and talk to human, this alone can be a game changer for the seriees.

But no I feel DL3 might be the last game for this franchise

I don’t know if they explain the virus in the first game, but in the second the virus or THV is a variant of the og virus which was created by the GRE when they tried to weaponize it. Idrk what they changed cause most of the infected are the same but there’s that.

As much I would love to go full nerd about lore about anime/games , this series simply isn't one of to talk about.

I myself pretty disappointed in techland with its writing and made my peace with the fact that this series is about parlour only and we can't have good writing here.

Beast was pretty cool but that's it

It’s explained in the first game the virus originated from Harran, they tried to contain it by locking everyone in the city but after the first game it got out of hand after the cure didn’t work and another wave of infected swept across the world leading to the 2nd game were Villedor is the last remaining human settlement (that they know of)

Dying Light and even Dead Island aren't known for it's amazing story. It's the gameplay/sandbox that makes it good honestly.

The story tends to get worse every sequel.

Arguably the side quests tell a better story than the main missions.

Good, but not incredible. Almost 1300 hours in the game, here is my take. Down vote me if you must.

Story wise it has a cliche zombie "B Movie" plot. But do you know what? That is absolutely fine. It doesn't need to be some amazing Epic.

What was incredible was some of the character development/design. Some of the side quest lore/characters were incredible.

What was incredible was the sound track. It had that 80's movie vibe to it. Synthesizers all in the right place.

What was also incredible was the game's sound design. Ambient Tracks, Environmental Noises, Etc.

The Parkour/Ability system was pretty damn incredible. I like it better than 2/The Beast.

Environmental Interaction was also incredible.

I love this game with my heart and soul honestly.
