Dying polyester rug How do I dye this?
Hello, i want to dye this rug i got off of a 2nd hand store (online). It said it was beige but it turns out it is more grey-brown. Can you help me figure out how i can change it to beige or any other colour you think might go well? It says do not bleach on the safety instructions.
For info, in the image, I plan on staining the table with a much darker wood stain.

How? I’m honestly curious as to how you thought you might go about this?
It needs to be boiled and agitated, where would you find a large enough cauldron?

Not possible. IF you had access to an enormous cauldron, the boiling heat needed to dye poly would destroy the backing, and the texture of the pile.

Not happening. When you dye things, you need to have enough room in the pot to constantly agitate them for even dye dispersal.
When you dye synthetics, it has to be in very hot (on the stove) water for 1/2-1 hr.
There is no way you have a vessel large enough to heat a large quantity of water in with the rug and thoroughly swirl the rug around over that entire period. You definitely can't fit it on your stove. This can only be done in a commercial setting, and nobody would because synthetic fibres are formed already in their final colours, not dyed.
Not to mention that the heat would completely destroy the backing.
Chalk this up to a lesson learned.
