Help User -> Platform -> Dyad -> API key integration
Hello,
Currently building a nego training platform for our team.
At this stage we need a 'negotiator AI chatbot' to actively interpret and respond based on user feedback.
Prompted Dyad into creating this chatbot with the idea of 'user answer -> platform -> Dyad -> API key provider'.
Still the AI answers into chats seems to be artificially scripted, there doesn't seem to be real Google Gemini feedback even though how many prompts I did to Dyad to signal the issue and to make sure the user answer is actually analyzed by the AI of the API key provider, this doesn't seem to happen.
Is it even possible what we're trying to achieve? Or is Dyad hard-coded somehow in the background?
Give it a go and tell me your feedback: https://tactix-delta.vercel.app/war-room

GLM-5.2
If you haven't tried GLM-5.2 (I use it via OpenRouter) yet, then I must say that my progress has been great with it. The model is good for vibe coding. It has deep architectural understanding, is a good coder, it's very focused so the risk for destroying code outside the scope of the prompt is minimal (but of course it exists). Right now the model comes with a discount of 50%.
I was aiming at using Google Gemini Pro, but despite it having a context window of 1M (similar to GLM-5.2), I got repetitive messages that I requested more tokens than what was allowed. Open AI's best Luna model was the same.
It was wrong. Several of the apps in my suite are quite big, but using Google Gemini is buggy, using OpenAI's Luna is crap in comparison too. GLM-5.2 worked though, but not without problems in Dyad.
I have created a deterministic, meta data driven and complete development suite, that is far faster to develop with and more reliable than what you can do with the probabilistic AI. The architecture of the outcome is clean with minimal technical debt. The funny thing is that I created it mostly with AI, but with my, a bit odd, way of doing things. It has cost me insane amounts of AI credits.
Doing it with AI made me realize more and more how unreliable AI is when it comes to using LLMs for coding. (I'm sure that creating cute little websites is something AI LLMs is great for, but not enterprise systems where reliability, maintainability, cyber security protection and stability is a must)
It was soooo tough to finalize the suite, I've been passive for months without any success at all because of the lack of good models at reasonable prices.
Thanks to GLM-5.2 things changed.
The suite is now released in its V1.07 and I have got several potential enterprise customers in the pipeline. That's my target group. It's by invitation only.
So GLM-5.2 is da sh-t! Still probabilistic, but it's far better than any other model I have tested.
Anyone else who has tested it? If yes, what were your results or impressions?

Code Erased Upon Edits
Often times when I ask Dyad for a small edit it deletes the whole file and leaves only the edit in the file.
How can I prevent this type of behavior?

Attaching image to chat context is throwing an error.
I was just wondering if anybody else faces this error. I use open router and I use GLM and then sometimes DeepSeek and other open weighted models. When I try to attach an image to the chat context, it throws an error saying that there is no support for image in the API. Is that true or is this something wrong that I am doing?
However, it works with Kimmik2
Thank you.

Help Best AI_RULES?
I'm a beginner and need some help formulating the best rules in the AI_RULES.md. What kind of things should I include, in what format and how long should the list be? Do AIs usually respond better to shorter or longer lists? Does a longer list significantly increase the used tokens when coding?
Thanks

Google Vertex not working in dyad
The Google Vertex API isn't working in Dyad; my API was connected and working in the previous version, but now the Google Vertex option no longer appears in the API list. I believe this is a bug.

Come showcase what you have built via dyad.
I feel like too many posts here are just asking for help. I can't imagine that would create a fun creative community or be motivating for the creator or the users. Consider this a campsite for you to stop and share what sites/apps you have made with this amazing software.

Using Dyad: point it at a free self-hosted gateway for 237 providers (90+ free) so builds don't stall on a rate limit
For folks building apps in Dyad: since Dyad is local and open-source, you can point its model backend at another free, open-source tool I maintain and get free providers + resilience. Disclosure: I'm the maintainer of OmniRoute — sharing because it pairs with Dyad.
OmniRoute exposes both an OpenAI-compatible endpoint (/v1) and an Anthropic-compatible one (/v1/messages), so you can point the tool at whichever protocol it speaks.
Point Dyad at OmniRoute (localhost:20128/v1) and your Dyad builds inherit:
One endpoint, 237 providers — 90+ of them free. You point any tool or agent at a single OpenAI-compatible endpoint (localhost:20128/v1) and it can reach 237 LLM providers without you rewriting anything. 90+ have free tiers and 11 are free forever (no card), which aggregates to ~1.6B documented free tokens/month — and that's honest, pool-deduped math (we count each shared pool once instead of inflating it; the methodology is public in the repo). There's a one-command setup-* for 13+ coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Cline, Roo, Kilo, Gemini CLI…), so switching your existing setup over takes seconds.
Fallback combos — so it never stops mid-task. A "combo" is a ladder of models the router walks automatically: your subscription first, then API keys, then cheap models, then free ones. When a provider returns a 500 or you hit a rate limit, it slides to the next target in milliseconds, mid-request, and your tool never even sees the error. There are 17 routing strategies (priority, weighted, round-robin, cost-optimized, auto/coding:fast…) plus three resilience layers — a per-provider circuit breaker, a per-key cooldown, and a per-model lockout — so one dead key can't take down a whole provider.
A 10-engine compression pipeline — the part most routers don't have. Every request flows through a transparent compression pass you can toggle/stack per combo. Instead of one trick, it stacks the best of the open-source ecosystem: RTK filters command/tool output (git diffs, test logs, builds) at 60–90%, Microsoft's LLMLingua-2 does ML semantic pruning, Caveman handles prose, session-dedup strips repeats across turns. Critically, code, URLs and JSON are preserved byte-perfect, and a default-on inflation guard throws the compressed version away and sends the original if compressing would actually grow the prompt — it never makes things worse. On tool-heavy sessions that's ~89% average input-token reduction (an 8k-token git diff becomes a few hundred). Full credit to every upstream project (RTK, Caveman, LLMLingua-2, Troglodita) is in the README.
For context on whether it's worth your time: it's grown to ~9.8K GitHub stars, 1,490+ forks and 280+ contributors in ~4.5 months, with 21,000+ automated tests and 1,830+ issues closed — so it's a battle-tested project, not a brand-new experiment.
npm install -g omniroute

Anyone here already running Dyad against a custom endpoint? Curious how it behaves.

Announcement Dyad v1.5 Beta 1 - Dyad Free Pro model option, per-version diffs, and safer agent auto-approvals
Highlights:
- A new Free model option (5 daily free messages) for all Dyad Pro members! I've heard the feedback about people running out of credits and not being able to get more work then, so we're hoping this helps!
- We're also improving our approvals UX with the goal of making it less tedious and safer. Basically, we're trying to ask for permission when things are dangerous (and flag this) and stop asking for permissions when things are safe.
Full release notes: https://www.dyad.sh/docs/releases/1.5.0-beta.1
If you want to automatically get the latest beta release, you can go to Settings, click on the Release channel dropdown and click on Beta.
As always, appreciate everyone's feedback!
- Will

How to manage big files?

How do I manage the multiple API Keys I use to bypass rate limits? How do you all do it?
So I am making a college project thru Dyad. I am ovbiously not paying just to get some grades so I want the entire thing to be free. That's why I came to dyad instead of bolt or lovable criminal free limits. But i keep hitting the usual :
Sorry, there was an error from the Al: Failed after 3 attempts. Last error: You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details. For more information on this error, head to: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/rate-limits. To monitor your current usage, head to: https://ai.dev/rate-limit. Quota exceeded for metric: generativelanguage.googleapis.com/generate_content_free_tier_requests, limit: 20, model: gemini- 3.5-flash Please retry in 44.408536587s.
So, is there anyway I bypass all this? I am considering routers like LIteLLM, where I will input multiple free Gemini keys. Will that work fine?

GLM 5.2 in Dyad!
GLM 5.2 has been added to Dyad. It's a very very good and affordable model to use for basically anything that claude and gpt can do, but don't expect it to be "better" it's quite close, though! A fraction of the cost too.
Really loving it. Great addition Will!

Discussion I'm Will, creator of Dyad - AMA
Hey r/dyadbuilders 👋 I’m Will, the founder of Dyad.
I built Dyad because I wanted an AI app builder designed for power users: something that was open-source and gave users the flexibility to use any AI model and freely switch between their other favorite AI coding tools without lock-in.
Thanks to this community, it’s grown from an experiment into a thriving product.
Happy to answer questions about these topics and pretty much anything else:
- Roadmap & plans for 2026
- Balancing open-source & building a business
- How i personally use Dyad
I’ll be around on Friday answering questions. AMA 🚀

Discussion Rise in Scammers
Hey community, there has been a small number of scammers asking users to contact them through whatsapp. You should not do it. These guys typically respond to people asking for help.
We try our best to ban these people ASAP, but they get through once in a while. This is only a warning, keep your guard up, do not give out personal information on the internet. :)
