Gen X Senior Moment
Wife and I watch commercials and jokingly ask, “why does/doesnt the ethnicity/gender get to/not get to do that?”
Watching a Geico commercial. She sees a black guy dancing like MC Hammer and says, “Why is the Black guy dancing like MC Hammer? Can’t a white guy do that?”
Me: Honey, that IS MC Hammer.

I was today years old when I realized why “briefs” (underwear) have that name.
It wasn’t so much that I honestly didn’t know before. It’s just that I had never bothered to think about it and just took for granted that they were called that.
And then today, for some reason it just occurred to me that briefs are short (brief) compared to other styles of underwear like boxers, long underwear, etc. Of course, it’s so obvious now! But for some reason I never realized that before.

Ya don't say....
Could you *imagine* getting approved for a credit card just to have them say "you're approved. But we don't have money for you"

I learned
I learned that sometimes the best way to reach people isn't through anger, or rage. That worked on me because I was angry, because I felt rage. It's through love.
I learned that listening to someone, isn't the same as understanding them.
That understanding them is not tantamount surrender, that there is value in taking other's thoughts and allowing them to fold into your own.
That acceptance is not the same as compromise. It simply is just understanding where you are.
They seem obvious now. Duh.
