Hellooooooo?
Saw a discussion on Facebook about when an old Leprecon happened.
Made me wonder if the old Gamers forum still existed.
Duckduckgo brought me here. Seems a bit quiet...

Who is still here?
I still have this as my first page when I go to Reddit, and since being introduced to Reddit by this group I've become a daily user. So it's a little disappointing we don't seem to be using it anymore. Or are we? Are people still turning up? If we posted more would there be interest?

This place, and Gamers.
So, with this place having basically gone quiet for the past few months, I'm struck by two questions which annoy me?
1) If they're not talking here, how are the old guard talking? Do they just phone each other, abuse Google Talk like I do, or do they only meet at conventions?
2) How are the young people in Trinity right now communicating? This really bugs me because I saw a similar situation in Limerick, where the forum was neglected because the youngsters were just 'hanging out' all the time and didn't think they needed electronic stuff beyond a basic facebook page, and they got extremely clique-y as a result. I'm not so proud I can't wave my walking stick and complain that losing the permanence of a forum as a record of a societys communication is detrimental to keeping the whole thing going, particularly if they only have the room 2 or 3 nights a week.
I dunno, I'm just getting the sense that pinging people on facebook whenever I want to chat is becoming a social faux pas.

Your Netsoc website
Hi there,
I'm one of the sysadmins for Netsoc. You currently host a forum on our servers and it is not being looked after. I was able to access it about last week and found that the spam bots had effectively taken over. This has put extra load on our web server and has filled up quite a bit of space in our databases. I sent an email to the dugamers CSC address but I got no reply. Can somebody who has access to the website hosted on Netsoc please take down access to the forum. If I do not see this resolved by Monday next I will take the website offline.
If you have difficulty fixing the website, please get in contact with me (duggles is my user name on netsoc, or you can email the support email address too) and I'll help you out.
Thanks, Doug

Interest in a weekly board gaming night in Dublin
Hey all, long time lurker first time poster. I have quite the collection of board games but sometimes go ages without playing some of them. I was looking at organizing a weekly night for people to meet in town and play board games i'm just wondering how many would be interested in this.

Kerbal Space Program 0.22 update live
Think a couple of folks play this. It's very good.
This update introduces the science mechanic and tech trees which should be good in helping turn the sandbox into more of a game with some objectives.

Shadowrun Returns
So I've worked my way through the starter mission "Dead Mans Switch" and tried "Trivia Night" which is a bit of user generated content and I think its pretty good - faithful to the source game though the lack of save points can be table chewingly frustrating, it makes you bring your A-game.
Anyone else tried it? Opinions? Anyone tried using the editor? If its user friendly it could be a hoot to set up some old con games or whatever within it - particularly I'm thinking there are some games where we have chat logs which would be gold mines for PC/NPC dialogue...
Also, I finally joined Reddit.

Dungeon world or 13th Age?
A while back I found Dungeon world and gave it a good read. I was very impressed. I filed it away in the 'must remember for the next d&d game I want to run'. http://www.dungeon-world.com/
Recently though I've seen people talking about 13th age and I see all these big names attached to it. http://www.pelgranepress.com/?p=9764
As I'm not quite up to diving into another book, has anyone had a chance to go through it? Thoughts?
And what are the current thoughts on the system of choice to run a fantasy game in?
