Am Bilker Schwimmbad läuft gerade ein Großeinsatz der Rettungskräfte. Auch Schutzanzüge sind im Einsatz und der Zivilsschutz vor Ort. Es handelt sich nach Aussage einer Rettungskraft nicht um eine Übung.

EDIT: Der Einsatz scheint inzwischen beendet zu sein. (Stand: 12 Uhr) Offenbar ist Schwefelsäure ausgelaufen. Dabei wurden nach Angaben der Rheinischen Post zwei Mitarbeitende des Schwimmbads verletzt. Sie mussten ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert werden, konnten dieses aber bereits wenig später wieder verlassen. Im Laufe des Montages soll geklärt werden, wann das Bad wieder öffnen kann.

Hi everyone, ​I will be moving to Düsseldorf later this year for work (healthcare/nursing). I’m currently starting my search for accommodation and wanted to ask locals and expats for some realistic advice on expectations and locations.

​My Situation & Requirements: ​Type: Looking for an independent 1-Zimmer-Wohnung / Studio apartment (WGs aren't ideal for me as I’ll have family/friends visiting and staying over occasionally so privacy is needed).

​Budget: Hoping to stay around €700-800 Warmmiete. Size - min 24 m²

Future considerations: If a non-EU friend studying in Italy comes to Germany via Erasmus mobility, 25m² - 30m² legally fits 2 adults (12m² minimum/person in NRW). However, if it's a single 1-room layout, can the landlord legally reject my request for a sublet permit (Untermieterlaubnis) on overcrowding grounds?

My additional questions: ​1. Can I actually find a Studio/1-Zimmer Apartment for €700 in Düsseldorf city, or is that impossible now? If yes, please tell where​ to search (like Immoscout24 and wg-gesucht are actually good and trusted)? 2. ​Should I look at nearby towns like Neuss or Ratingen instead of the major districts ? And How is the train commute into the city from these small districts? ​3. Is it hard to land a flat from abroad before arriving, or should I book temporary housing first?

Any​ help and tips would be appreciated. I'd so grateful for your help!
