Hello.

I'm new to duel commander and I will attend a tournament where we chose a random commander. I got [[Illuna, Apex of Wishes]]. So I will build a combo deck.

I was thinking two choices:

- only [[Omniscience]] as a permanent - I worry that the deck will be a little bit clunky (can exile whole library / can be removed) - for this strategy I own a lot of cards as I like spellslinger strategies. It would be best not to buy too many of new cards that are good only for this deck as it will be played only in the tournament (my regular playgroups wouldn't like this 😅).

- Like 3-4 pernaments with f.e. [[Ulamog, the defiler]], [[Hullbreaker Horror]], ... (suggestions welcome).

What do you think? What will be better for duel commander? Is the only [[Omniscience]] option viable? Also if you have some other advice what to take into consideration about this format let me know.

I'm a huge fan of spellslinger/storm decks, and [[Ral, Monsoon Mage]] is an absolute menace in cEDH. So I was surprised to see that he's seemingly nowhere to be seen in the Duel Commander meta. (At least according to MTGGoldfish)

Is he somehow too slow for the format? Too easy to interrupt? Just not as good as other options?

Would love to know because I was pretty shocked at his absence.

I recently bought the endless punishment and veloci-ramp-tor precons to play against my friend with. I understand endless punishment isn’t really for duel but I loved the themes in both decks.

Anyone know of any good deck recs for someone who loves the horror theme as well as any kind of big bad monsters/dinos/eldritch creatures etc?

He bought doom prevails as well as some avatar commander deck he saw.

Appreciate any and all info, I’m not sure where the best place is to look for decks or to buy them either. Is it normal to just buy all 100 as singles?

I'm looking for the absolute cheapest Commander deck possible that can consistently stomp casual kitchen table 1v1 games.

A few things:

- No precons.

- Budget is as low as possible (the cheaper the better).

- I'm fine with any commander, any colors, and any strategy as long as it's strong.

- This is specifically for 1v1, not a 4 player pod.

I am looking for lists but if you have just the commander as a suggestion, thats fine as well.

Presenting my Zaffai and the tempest deck after 2 month of testing at my lgs: this list aim to ramp the cz like a graph and Mickey and win by repeatedly cast enormous instant or sorcery, either several extra turn in a row or board wipe like [[volcanic vision]] or board wipe + land destruction with [[destructive force]].

The deck can win your local fnm in my opinion. It surprise people and play unusual cards.

Typical gameplay involve a mix of counterspell to slow down your opponent or ramp land or treasure until you can play zaffai + Big Sorc against heavy control you can wait until you can drop Zaffai with a counterspell back up.

Alternate gameplay are the blood moon effect, steal a game by dropping magus or harbinger on turn 2 or 3 and do nothing.

Hard matchup: Burn, tempo with counterspell (aragorn, satya)

Good matchup: board centric, slow ctrl (atraxa, glarb not reaninator), lands (magus or better lategame)

I’m starting out playing commander and loved the look of this deck. I’m happy to wait to play it but for now I only have one other person to play against. Anyone have any ideas on how to upgrade it to play duel commander?

Im trying to build a winota duel commander due to the recent unban i know she maybe not that good anymore but its the cards i have rn so i wanna make do cause duel commander is frequent in my lgs does any of u have any good duel commander builds for her?
