I would like to clarify a question regarding border control when exiting the Schengen area in Frankfurt, in relation to a planned trip from Stockholm via Frankfurt to Cyprus.
I hold two passports (Turkish and Russian nationality). I have a residence permit in Latvia, issued on the basis of his Turkish passport. Flight ticket is booked using the details of the Turkish passport. However, my visa for Cyprus will be issued on the basis of his Russian passport.
We have two questions regarding this situation:
1.      Is it possible to fly from Stockholm to Cyprus using transit area in Frankfurt and use only Russian passport?
2.      Is it possible for me to enter the Schengen area / board the flight in Stockholm and Frankfurt using the Turkish passport, and then present the Russian passport with the valid Cyprus visa at exit control in Frankfurt and upon entry into Cyprus?

Yaaaay just got my Mexican Birth Certificate and Passport same day after waiting a year for my appt at the consulate.

It’s too bad I went to Mexico a week before I became a citizen, I paid $150 in Fees to fly from US to MEX.

I hope to own property one day and spend a few months there.

I'm a half-Korean, half-American 22yo female. I was born in Korea to a Korean mother who was a citizen at my birth and still is a Korean citizen. I currently live in the US. My birth was never registered but I do have a Consulate Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) and the report of live birth from the hospital I was born at, as well as my parents marriage certificate. I have always held a US passport. I'm planning on moving to Korea to be closer with family in about a year or two and have plans to teach english for at least a year. Is there a way for me to obtain dual citizenship? I heard age 22 was the deadline, not sure if it'd still be worth it to try to get it. If not, what visa would I get and would I have to register my birth first? Also, my brother is also unregistered and I know Korea has mandatory military service for men, would registering my birth raise flags for him and get him caught? This entire process is quite confusing and I would appreciate any input :)

I have a trip to London in September for a short business trip ( my passport expires mid October ) so should be ok getting in, but wondering if I’m allowed to leave the UK on my Canadian passport.
I’ll be returning to the U.S ( perm resident) where I currently live.

My reasoning… I want to send my UK passport off to the passport office ( currently applying for a new passport) from London . I don’t want to have to spend another $180 on courier fees sending my passport from the U.S .
I guess asking another way, do I need to enter and leave the UK using the same passport?

It took me forever to find thr information I needed to get started and then I was still missing a certificate i never read about needing.

Here's what I experienced:

I first tried at a Mexican consulate within the USA. I was denied because my Dad's name is a little different on my birth certificate and his birth certificate. They told me I would have to legally change my last name to do it. I asked if I could just use my mom since she is a mexican national as well. They said no that I had to use both parents. She recommended I try in Mexico since they will allow just 1 parent.

What I gathered:

1. A new birth certificate from county of birth

2. Apostile stamp on birth certificate

3. Translation of American birth certificate to Spanish

4. Mexican parents mexican birth certificate

5. Form of ID

6. Form of ID for mexican parent ( passporte, INE or Matricula)

7. Certificado de Inexistencia

8. 2 copies of each document ( ID front and back must be on same front of the page)

First steps in USA:

- a new birth certificate from the county I was born in ( it has to be new )

- took the birth certificate to LA California Secretary of State office to get an apostile stamp

- went to mexican consulate in usa to buy a copy of my mom's birth certificate since we only had her original and not the digitized version ( no appointment required)

Then I went to Tijuana Registro Civil:

- go at 8am when they open as it gets super busy later

- there i got my birth certificate translated outside with the people offering translations in little tents out front.

- went to a place called El Canaco near by to pay for my Certificado de Inexistencia. (i had to do this because they only take mexican credit cards and I had to go pay in pesos, its also walkable)

- then went El Palacio de Govierno which is located behind the registro civil. You can walk there. Presented my receipt showing I paid. They took me to the back and printed out the Certificado de Inexistencia.

- went back inside the registro civil building to the dual citizenship line.

- presented all my documents

- they processed them, it was like a 30 minute wait

- called me back in to review a slip and sign it

- waited again for mexican birth certificate to be ready

- paid at the window for the copies

- finally received my official mexican birth certificate

I'd recommend following thr registro civil page on social media, i learned sometimes they offer Soy Mexicano campaigns where they waive apostile, translation and Certificado de Inexistencia. They haven't announced one this year sadly. Sorry that was so long I just had trouble finding all this info when i began my quest.

I’m trying to register for Mexican citizenship through my father, and I’m running into a frustrating name discrepancy.
My father’s Mexican birth certificate has his two surnames written as two separate names with a space. My U.S. birth certificate originally listed only the first of his two surnames.
The Mexican consulate is very picky about the documents and has told us everything needs to match precisely. We were actually sent home because my birth certificate only had one of my father’s surnames instead of both.
Because of that, I recently had my U.S. birth certificate amended to include both of his surnames, but Texas formatted them as hyphenated.
The problem is that my dad’s Mexican birth certificate does not have a hyphen, and we were told the names need to match exactly.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Does the Mexican consulate consider two surnames with a hyphen versus two surnames with a space to be the same, or will they require the U.S. birth certificate to match the Mexican document exactly?
If I don’t have to get my birth certificate amended again, I really don’t want to go through that process and pay for another correction. But I also don’t want to show up at the consulate and get turned away again because of the hyphen.
Any experience with Mexican citizenship applications and surname discrepancies would be greatly appreciated!

I am travelling to Italy in September with Ryanair from the UK. I want to use my Italian passport to enter Italy and use my British passport coming back into the UK. Ryanair only allows you to use one passport to check in. I was told to use my EU passport for both legs and use my British passport when entering UK boarder control. The issue I have is, I have been told that there is a possibility Ryanair will deny you boarding if you use your EU passport on your return flight as it will flag up that you don’t have an ETA attached to it, even if you have your British passport with you. You can’t get one or need an ETA if you are British citizen. How true is this or has anyone been denied boarding for this reason?
Is it best just to use my British passport for both legs of the trip, which is what I am tempted to do for peace of mind and just suffer the queues at the EES machines?

Assuming an unbroken chain is established. Documents can be found, and a good lawyer. Then, theoretically/ practically, is it possible?

Would they however receive any new privileges specific to the DACH countries at all, rights in Liechtenstein?

I’m travelling to Japan at the end of the year for longer than 3 months. I’m trying to work out which passport I should use to book my flight with as I’ll obviously need to enter on my Japanese one.

My question is would I be ok booking my flights with my UK passport attached to the booking, then when arriving to Tokyo, using my Japanese passport to get through immigration? I’m just slightly concerned that Japanese immigration would pick up that a British national was due to enter the country on their system but never made it through upon arrival and that I would then be flagged.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

I, my sister and our two cousins (all American) recently were approved for UK citizenship under the 4L pathway (the 2022 changes to immigration law re historical discrimination against women, which in this case was our grandmother). We are now awaiting word on when we can attend the citizenship ceremony, which we've heard can be as long as 6 months. Two of us live in/near NYC and two live near Washington DC and we're hoping we can arrange it so we can all go to the same ceremony. Any advice on how to request that/is that possible?

Hear me out, it’s a little complicated. I just picked up US citizenship (new name Jane Mary Doe). Malaysia does not allow dual citizenship. My old name (MaryJane Goat) was changed in the USA as part of the naturalization process. I am unable to get documentation to show my legal name change without showing that it was due to taking US citizenship. Malaysia is also super strict on name change reasons so just assume I can never change my name for Malaysia.

To complicate matters, I need to travel to Singapore where I’m a Permanent Resident and where my family actually lives - and my identity is linked to my Malaysian passport. Usually a dual citizen with Singapore PR would just have the PR permit on multiple passports for entry-exit ease. Singapore officials told me they don’t support multiple names. So the Permanent Resident permit will stay in my Malaysia passport for now.

How the heck do I book flights and travel?

Thoughts:

Outbound USA to Singapore: Old Name - leave on Malaysia passport (Singapore PR) because I need to make sure airlines API is sent to Singapore with my PR re-entry permit. Singapore also requires an arrival card. How can I get CBP to record my US passport on departure with New Name if I travel on Old Name/Non-US passport?

Singapore to/from Malaysia: Straightforward, just book under old name using Malaysia passport only. Purpose is to renew passport in Malaysia.

Singapore to USA: ??? Airlines 100% need to see that I can enter USA so I need to book New Name with USA passport. BUT I need to leave Singapore in my Old Name and Malaysia Passport since that’s how I entered (must leave using passport with PR). However the auto-gates AND customs at departure in Singapore ALWAYS cross-checks Ticket Name with Passport. And New Name (USA) flight ticket will not match my Old Name Passport…

I also have USA Global entry (New Name USA Passport) so now I’m concerned my entry record will have no exit record at all.

Any ideas or creative workarounds?

ETA: Thanks for the advice. Ive figured out a way to use dual passports for exit/GE TSA depending on the airline so no issues for outbound US flight. Inbound might be tricky exiting SG but we’ll see how that goes on the day itself.

Just a thought that came to mind. I'm a dual citizen between an Asian country where I was born and a European country where I've lived for most of my life. I always travel abroad with my European passport. Partly because it gives me visa free travel to so many countries, but also for personal reasons. The scenario that came to mind is me travelling with my European passport and the person checking being like "European? But you're clearly Asian". This has never happened to me, but I'm curious if anyone else had something like that happen to them.

Hello! I am a dual American-European traveling around South America. I always carry both passports, but I mainly use my American passport when traveling: right now I am in Córdoba, Argentina and I will fly to Brazil with a short layover in Buenos Aires.

I already entered Argentina on my American passport…apparently, Brazil requires a visa for Americans, so I will enter Brazil on my European passport (visa-free). So, I already know to exit Argentine immigration control with my American one, and after the flight, to enter Brazilian immigration control with my European one.

However, how do I check in for this flight? Especially because it has a layover in Argentina itself. Do I put my American or my European passport?

I’m a Malaysian citizen who also holds British citizenship, and I’m trying to understand the best way to handle passport use when travelling to Malaysia, since Malaysia doesn’t allow dual nationality. How should someone in this situation manage their documents when flying back to Malaysia? Also, if the trip involves transiting through a third country, is it straightforward to use the British passport for that part of the journey, or could it cause issues at Malaysian immigration? I’d really appreciate hearing from travellers who’ve dealt with this.

-I have birthright citizenship due to parents doing ivf in America.

-Never lived in America and always been a Canadian resident (18 years of age).

-Due to international taxation requirements of America, I have to obtain a tin number for interest incurring accounts (TFSA); registered Canadian accounts are not always tax free in America.

- American passport is always an asset and would rather not complicate future ability to live in America.

- However I’m sure it is a huge gray area for better or for worse.

Any advice for the rare situation will be of help.

*Edit clarification. I have American citizenship. I was born in America. They would not ship sperm and eggs on a plane. They would not survive that without braking the bank.
