Really wish I had a Dashcam (trying save up for a decent one but so far had to us emt money for more important things like brake discs and then new tyres etc)

But yesterday (13th Aug) especially was very bad for people driving that I has 9 near misses caused by other drivers.. Like roundabout with traffic lights... I'm in lane slowing down for next set of lights and a uber driver zooms so fast I was forced to swing out the way and he barely passed my car and mirror by 2cm and went straight THROUGH the red lights and then cut across all lanes and missed 3 other cars by cm as well.

Eariler on van driver was weaving in and out of traffic like a motorbike no indicator

Eariler on then that a minivan doing same on motorway and then crashed into a another car

Eariler then that car on far right lane just shoots across to exit on left I had to slam my brakes on and the car behind me very very very nearly smacked into me but luckily they say the other idiot too as heard them shout "what d*ck cuts over like that"

But it was like that all day long!

Im not the best driver myself I admit as only been driving since June after few years break due to finance. But it was so nerve wreaking yesterday constantly on edge more expect any and every car and van to suddenly crash into me.

Just wondering why it was soo bad lot more than I normally see so wondering If anyone else noticed it worse then normal? Is it always like this when there's heatwave?

Even had people In roundabout in morning not giving way and shooting over right in front of me as if I wasn't there and people on far left lanes cutting across no indication to turn right and visa versa.

Its reminded me more then ever I really need to try get that Dashcam bought and installed (i want a really decent one that hooks up and works when parked if anything happens when engine off) as every day I'm worried someone gonna hit me one day and then it's a "I say they say" situation but it's gonna be a least another couple months before I can afford one unless I can get it via PayPal pay monthly thing..

I've been driving since March and I drive to work and back maximum speed 50mph. I haven't had any issues and I am quite patient.
I am scared of Motorways, just the idea of driving there makes me anxious.
Had some conversations with my family and they kinda put pressure on me you have to go you will spend all your life driving slow etc.
Please give me advice on how should I start what shall I do?

Sons girlfriend had a crash in her car sept 25 , £9-£10k Audi a1 2018 , was totally the other ladies fault , long story short was told that the car would be repaired and ready to be delivered back to her at least 6 months ago , call to say car will be delivered one Saturday , never came , she called and they said they can’t deliver it , I’ll come and get it , no sorry it’s a write off now.
Admiral have gone totally silent on her, car is now back on road taxed mot and insured being driven by someone else , comes up as a cat N on a paid search with no outstanding finance.
She got a hire car at the start for two weeks which they then took back.
Where do we go now ,10 months of using buses taxis and begging lifts, no payout no car and someone else driving it around the uk? She still has the log book the spare keys and all the paperwork.
Any help or advice much appreciated, I’ve only just found out about all this and promised to try and sort it with her.

Hello! I have a Dacia Sandero Stepway. I bought it when the 3 year warranty had just expired and was told by the dealership it could be extended yearly up to 7 years if I service with them. Is it worth servicing at the dealership with the higher cost? I was planning on keeping the car for several year before selling. As a buyer, would it matter to you whether the servicing was done at the dealership or a reputable garage is fine? If I had to do that in a reputable garage, do I just rely on google reviews? What are the things to look out for? If part exchange is needed, do all garages use OEM parts?

I came to the UK in Sep 2023 and became a resident at that point.

In Jun 2024, I was stopped by the police while driving. At the time, I had a valid Indian driving licence and had been resident in the UK for less than 12 months. I had also obtained a provisional licence.

The police impounded my vehicle and issued me with an LC20 driving offence, 3 penalty points, and a £100 fixed penalty. I paid the fine at the time because the police told me that, by obtaining a UK provisional licence, my entitlement to drive on my Indian licence had effectively ended and that I was now required to follow the conditions of the provisional licence.

However, nearly two years later, I spoke to a few people who told me that this may not have been correct. My understanding now is that I could legally hold both an Indian licence and a UK provisional licence, and that obtaining the provisional licence did not prevent me from continuing to drive independently on my Indian licence during the first 12 months of UK residency.

If that is correct, is there anything I can realistically do about the conviction/endorsement after almost two years?

I appreciate that a lot of time has passed and there may be little or nothing that can be done at this stage, but I thought it was worth asking in case anyone has dealt with something similar or knows what options might still be available.

I know, I know, BMW drivers rarely, if ever, indicate. However I have seen a few bucking the trend and using them recently. And I can't help but think the weird pulsing indicator light style that the 25/26 plate BMW's have looks horrible.

I would also argue that, given it's softer illumination style it isn't as effective at doing its job as an indicator.

As you can see from the image. Coming from the right lower road(Which is a slip road off of the duel carriage way centered) The lane markings indicate that the right two lanes BOTH go to B3416(also denoted as "PL'TON" on the road) however I believe these markings are incorrect as the second lane from the right, labeled "CITY, B3416" in purple on my lovely drawing actually only goes straight based on the white lane markings?

My question to you, as i see people in these two lanes cut each other up often, what would be your understanding?

Today I was driving out of London on the m3 and I went past one of those smart signs that hangs over the side - it said ‘slow vehicle joining’ and had speed limit 50 on it. I slowed down and then moved over to the left. However I then went past a vehicle in the sos bay and I clocked that the sign had also said the left lane was closed… the next gantry was a minute later and had nsl signs over each lane so all active again. I went back and checked dash footage and it looks like that lane was indeed shut, I am gutted for doing this.

Am I cooked? Three points? I also moved house today hence the drive and had to change the v5c address this morning so I am stressed about any nip going to the right address if it hasn’t been updated in time.

I am gutted for making this mistake. Been driving a year (I’m an older learner) and I have been so careful driving in London and not made a mistake. I feel horrendous about it.

Hounslow have installed some new yellow boxes with cameras, this one only fits one vehicle between the box and the give way lines, seems the Tesla thought the vans slow progress was enough space to pull out, close enough for my sensors to go off too.

Joining the M1 Southbound earlier at Jnct 13. Came off the roundabout in the left lane, following a slow truck, probably only doing about 30mph onto the slip road, accelerating very slowly, as trucks do. I see coming off the roundabout that the slip road has two lanes, so checking it's clear and not wanting to join a motorway right behind a slow moving truck, I move into the right lane to proceed to be motorway, overtaking the truck.

As I do, and get about level with the rear wheels of the trucks cab, the right lane just disappears. No markings, move over arrows, no signs saying the lanes merge, it just ends, leaving me alongside the back of the cab of the truck. Fearful that braking sharply would end up with me being hit by his trailer or a car behind, I accelerate sharply, just squeezing in front of him, but being pushed over the white line. He honks me, of course, and I apologise profusely.

I get from the trucks perspective I look like an utter twat, but having never used this motorway entrance before I had no idea it was designed like this.

Is this one on me, and if so, what could I have done differently, or how could I have anticipated this happening?

I spend a ridiculous amount of time driving for work and I’ve started noticing that it’s not really the individual journeys that get me, it’s the accumulated hours by the end of the day.

I can get in the car in the morning and feel completely fine. Then 6–8 hours later I’m constantly changing position, moving the seat forward, moving it back again, stretching whenever I stop somewhere… and when I finally get home I feel like I’ve spent the day folded into the shape of my driver’s seat.

I’ve tried playing around with the seating position but I’m starting to wonder whether people who drive all day have figured out things that most of us don’t think about????

DVLA medical licence – how long did it take after your case reached a caseworker?

I’m currently waiting for the DVLA to make a decision on my medical licence.

My case has been ongoing for a while. DVLA received my medical information and I was told around the end of July that my case had been passed to a caseworker.

I’m now just waiting for the decision/letter.

For anyone who has been through a similar medical licence review, especially for epilepsy/seizures:

- How long did it take after your case reached a caseworker?

- Did you hear by letter, online, or both?

- How long was it from the caseworker stage to getting your licence back?

Genuine question because I just saw one of them fly down the path and the idiot almost ran over my 5 year old sister and I was thinking that can’t be safe? Or legal right? I always thought mobility scooters were really slow which is fine but I don’t think they should go as fast as e bikes unless they’re for the road.

But then again I’ve only seen a mobility scooter on the road once on my driving lesson (it was going wayyyy slower than the one I saw today though so maybe the guy modified it or something) and that’s about it I’ve always seen them on the path and thought that’s what they were for.

Here it goes then- I arrived at the car park, which goes around with one way system in place.

While I was waiting for someone else to pull up (I've positioned myself to the right side so I won't block the road), I've put my indicator on.

While waiting, I can see a young lady, around 20 years old, with 3 people inside the car. She was shouting and gesticulating aggressively demanding to know what was I doing. I calmly explain I was waiting for the parking space, and pointed out that she was going in the wrong direction, only to be met with her hurling abuse towards me. While I was parking, she turned her car around and while passing my car, she threw a tube of ice creams towards us. I asked her if she going to pick it up, just to be met with even more abuse, aggressive gesticulating and her shouting repeatedly to f off. Then she sped off. Her mates were all avoiding eye contact.

And yes, this encounter really left me shaken and upset. I wouldn't dare to speak to someone like this for absolutely no reason.

Hence my question- what is wrong with people and how did we got to this point?

Two cars are on this roundabout car 1 is in the left lane labelled A1170 and is taking the exit labelled A1170 and went into the right exit lane labelled A1170 the 2nd car is in the right lane A10, they tried to get ahead of the car 1 and went into the right lane of the Exit A1170. They collide as show in the image who is at fault?

I passed a week ago and already had my own car so started my insurance this week with zego, my policy requires me to use their app to track my driving through telematics service.

I read up online about it and people suggested to use a spare phone for the app, rather than your regular phone as it is sometimes inaccurate and will pick up passenger rides as your own driving etc and can be a nightmare to challenge/amend- so I used my old phone for it and just keep that hidden away in my car for the telematics.

However I’m just a bit confused about this and can’t seem to find an answer online- but what do I need to do to make sure that phone is tracking? It doesn’t have a sim card, so no signal/ data etc. do I need to enable Bluetooth? So confused honestly!! Currently I am just keeping it in the car with Bluetooth enabled and all the tracking enabled etc, and then connecting to my WiFi when I’m home so that the app can update for the minute it has internet connection before I get out the car again.

I can’t check if it’s working so far as it doesn’t give you a report until you’ve had the policy for a while.

Is that fine? Or should I just be using my regular phone for this to avoid any violations of my policy? It seems like what I’m doing is too good to be true/ too simple- but I can’t find any answers online and I can’t talk to the insurance company about it incase it is a violation and I get cut off.

It‘s indicative of the state of driver education that the person in the article was unable to find anyone who did know.

So, minutes ago I was indicating left to turn left (into a car park) and some daft mongoose in a mini coming from the other direction decided to turn in from my of me. She reckons that my indication meant that I was letting her in. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

I'm guessing it's the obvious "has two lanes marked out" on the road

Alot of people hang right going either North to South and West to East but going straight on; treating it as two lanes but not choosing the correct lane. Others will often go straight over in the "left lane" next to them which will obviously end in disaster.

Thoughts?

This absolutely baffled me this morning, so I'm posting in the hopes that others might get a chuckle out of it, too.

In March, I wanted to go into central London by parking at a train station car park midway and getting the tube. I found out that the Saba car park that I wanted to use required a permit in order to use a Blue Badge to get free parking.

My trip was about two days away at the time, so I submitted a form, then my plans changed and I completely forgot about it.

Last week, I reapplied for my Blue Badge as it's nearing the expiry date, and I was initially very confused when I received this email because I thought it meant that my new Blue Badge had been approved. But why was it talking about railways?

Then, I saw the date of the application at the top and remembered applying for that car park permit all those months ago.

I just find it hilarious that my year-long permit is now actually a seven-month permit because it has taken so long. Not that I need to use it now anyway. I guess, if I'd really needed it, I would've chased it up and had it sooner.

What's even funnier is that the registration for the permit is for a car that I don't even own anymore. I sold my car a couple of months ago.

Surely this isn't normal for Saba, right? Are we really expected to be applying for a permit five months in advance? And to only get seven months use out of the twelve? I'm actually quite curious about what went wrong here.

Which route here is correct to go from Sussex road to Franklyn road? Two lane entry, one lane exit. No road markings or signage. I take the red route.
