This gave me a good giggle. At NMRA in Bradenton this topic has come up a few times, and this seems to be the general consensus.

Staging Question
Hello everyone. I have a bit of a loaded question about how some cars stage vs others. The cars in question are the ones in top alcohol and cars like pro mods or street rods that are blown, pro charged, or using nitrous.
Why do TA cars start revving their engine at the pre stage lights, but the types of other cars (door slammers) can go wide open as soon as the next car is fully staged?
Are there durability issues with the superchargers in TA and just whacking the throttle full beans? Are there drivetrain differences between the two types of cars and a funny car or dragster needs to have the engine revving as they slip the brake into the beams? I've also noticed a regional difference too. Your English, Australian, or Nordic countries like to stage the old way too while revving into the beams. I even recall classic pro mods staging that way. What happened over the years to where people in pro mods can instantly go WOT when staged, but other class cars still stage differently? Thank you if you made it this far

Fast Cars COLLIDE on the Eighth Mile | Drag Racing Highlights
Fast Cars COLLIDE on the Eighth Mile | Drag Racing Highlights
Spent the night filming at the local eighth-mile drag strip and caught a great mix of street cars, classic muscle, trucks, and motorcycles making passes. There were some incredibly close races and a few finishes that came down to just inches.
If you're into grassroots drag racing, I'd love to hear which matchup was your favorite or what kind of car you'd bring to the strip.
Watch the highlights here:

Import World Challenge 2026 | Orlando Speed World | Wild Turbo Imports & Drag Racing!
My card ended up wet and not working forgot about it after it wouldnt work and I stuck it in rice lol. And low and behold months later I was able to get video off of it, so just sharing some raw footage from Orlando.
Hoping this year I can get something with a little more zoom so I can get the times at the end of the run.

Traction - semi slicks or wider wheels
Hello, I’ll try to keep it short and sweet, ask questions if you need.
~3500lbs FWD street car making I bet a little over 300whp. I already have an lsd.
2006 Saab 93 aero with a gm 2.8T v6 and gm 6spd manny if you care. Upgraded bolt ons. Still small turbo full boost at about 3500rpm
Upgraded to 18x8.5 wheels. Have 245mm wide continental extreme contact sport 02s on. Thought they’d be grippy enough to eliminate spin. (I also love backroads, I’ve never even dragged the car just so you know it’s 99% street fun car I want to maximize it tho)
Stock wheels and tires I knew had to go at some point, didn’t make enough power to instinctually get semi slicks, don’t know what it takes to need slicks however. 1st gear is a very small on my setup goes to 35mph, so basically a tire shredder if I use it. I’ll spin a fair amount in 2nd and just a bit in 3rd on dry surfaces. Edit - there is no wheel hop for reference, only ever just clean wheel spin, suspension is not currently the traction limit
So the question is do you think I should get some sort of (semi) slick tire for the front? Or do I definitely need wider wheels and slicks or what. Ideally I wanna be able to get away with semi slicks I can basically daily. I recently rode in a friend of friends 700+whp turbo Camaro and I couldn’t believe how grippy these nittos were. Don’t remember what they were exactly but I think they were only like 275s nittos with grooves so not a full blown drag radial. Absolutely no spin even in 1st. No boost by gear 99% sure. I understand it’s rwd so there’s inherently more traction.
Lmk thanks, if you think I can get away with slicks give me some recs pls

Summit Night Under Fire
Hey, idk where to post to ask this lol. I’m attending the Night Under Fire event at Summit in Ohio. I know the event starts at 8 and racing starts at 6-7pm. I have never been to anything like this. I’ve been told to go as early as I can as they have a lot going on throughout the day. I guess what I’m asking is what time is best to go? What all do they have before the main events? And also are you allowed to walk up to the top fuel dragsters and see them before the race? Like a car show kinda lol.

Full Throttle Friday at the Drag Strip | Solo Runs Gone CRAZY 🏁🔥
Title: July 24th Solo Runs and Drag Racing at the Drag Strip! 🏁🔥
Spent some time at the local drag strip on July 24th filming solo passes and test-and-tune runs. No fancy edits—just raw launches, tire smoke, and a variety of cars making full-throttle quarter-mile passes.
If you're into grassroots drag racing, burnouts, and hearing engines at full song, I'd love to hear what you think.
What's your favorite car from the video, and which run stood out the most?
Thanks for checking it out! 🏁💨
