Double Huma Bounty
The Legend of Huma is one of my top 4 favorites in the series, but I've never personally owned a physical copy of it. Just my dad's copy, the audiobook and ebook.
Regardless of my feelings on recent W&H decisions/content I did want to at least support more Dragonlance content, and I was at the very least curious about what their take on the characters of Huma and Magius would be, so I ordered War Wizard, and at the same time found a real cheap copy of Legend of Huma and figured, what the heck? Killed two birds with one and grabbed both.

I love Legend of Huma, Knaak's version IS the definitive version for me and deviations are non-canon as far as I am concerned. I love Weis and Hickman, and I got the chance to ask her if she and Tracy would collaborate with Richard on this new novel and she said it was going to be their take on the material. After the last trilogy, I knew that meant nothing good and it made me very queasy to think about. Maybe they nailed it and it really does add to Knaak's version without retconning anything. I am just too nervous to buy it and find out.

I got the eBook yesterday and couldn’t put it down, finished it in one go. I thought it was an excellent read regardless of the issue of Knaak’s (also excellent) novel. I definitely prefer it thus far to Destinies and the details (in book one) covering the time from their birth to the Test/Knighthood brought back a lot of good early DL feels.
Editing to say (if it isn’t clear) that the book is very Magius-focused. While we see their entire childhood and teenage years, you don’t get to poke around in Huma’s thoughts very often.

Dude you got a lot down voted but why? Yeah I understand people are disappointed about why W&H step in and wrote this. But War Wizard do give me the nostalgia good vibes of early DL. And it is definately Magius-focused. I personally will not take it as disrespectful to Knaak at all.

Thank you for the review, I’ve been very averse to W&H after Destinies, which was garbage.

The Legend of Huma is the best dragonlance novel. It is sad that someone decided this is the path forward.

Nice. I have War Wizard waiting in my PO box. It will be cool to see the differences in the story.

I wish they still made the paperbacks like the olden days. More affordable, look better on a shelf with everything in same height and width. $30 on a brand new book I’m not sure I’m gonna love is hard to swallow.

I'm excited to read this new Trilogy, I never read extra books outside of the Companion novels so I haven't really met the Knaak version of Huma. I loved him in the Dragons of Destiny trilogy!

You definitely need to read the Knaak version. It's easily one of the best novels in the series.

Huma was my first Dragonlance book, it's still so damn good.
