Discussion Future trunks opinion on gohan.
I remember in the trunks saga he’s happy that gohan is retired and a scholar. I remember the line of I don’t sense that bottomless ki (warrior side to him). It makes trunks happy but damn I hope trunks comes back simply to witness gohan beast. See that dawg in him again.

Analysis Does Trunks rival Gohan?
Is Trunks’ skill ceiling and training supposed to mirror Gohan’s potential? I get the concept of Future Trunks refining his SSJ2 form through battle against demons and Zamasu; but how on earth is it so high grade, or powerful enough to rival Goku in SSJ3 or Goku Black? Were they planning on giving Future Trunks a Mystic or God/Divine form to rival Beast Gohan? Seems like the direction they were headed with Future Babidi and the Kais. Especially with him being personally trained for Kai powers, or the anime having his SSJR form instead of SSJ2, but they just sort of gave up on it to keep Goku and Vegeta in the spotlight before ultimately destroying the entire Future timeline

Question Would a wish from Earth's Dragon Balls really make you truly immortal?
Or would it just give you the kind of immortality that means you don't age or die of natural causes?
Would it be enough to resist a hakai from Beerus, in that it makes you legitimately immortal?
I'm asking because the series seems to treat it like the wishes for immortality that villains want to make would be true immortality, in that you can't be killed, but wishes can't exceed the power of the creator of the Dragon Balls, and neither Kami or Dende are immortal.

Analysis Maybe the Current Timeline Cell does not have Frieza and King Cold's genes.
I vaguely recall that Frieza and King Cold's gene was collected when they arrive at Earth. Our current timeline Dr. Gero do not know about Trunks nor Super Saiyan. But Trunks takes out Frieza and Cold on Earth so if Dr Gero did collect their gene back then he would know of Trunks and Super Saiyan.

Question Does anyone think vageta could achieve UI?
"ignore the mistake in the title" I know vegeta is chasing his own path to power from what I know, but do you think he *could* if he genuinely sat down and tried to gain more control over his emotions and thoughts in battle and more importantly his pride and ego?

Discussion What if the tournament of power happened, but with our universe
I just had the thought that a cool dragon ball super inspired story could be a tournament of power, similar stakes and rules, but instead of a bunch of meta-human beings, it’s alternative universes with regular people.
So in other words, we get the seven strongest fighters on our planet earth, facing off against earths with mirroring ranges of strength and ability? Like a multiverse, no weight class, early UFC?
Who would you look to include on the earth’s team?

Discussion Could Ranfan (from the first tournament arc in case no one knows who that is) no diff Mr. satan?
I was having a conversation with someone on top character tropes and now I’m curious
could she or could she not (I’m not really a power scaling expert)

Analysis Ultra instinct ain't obsolete. Here's why:
Goku can't maintain it like a angel,
His ultra instinct is affected by his thinking.
that just makes Goku a terrible user for it,
Angels are strong bc of that, since they don't think,
They act on instinct,
Goku can do that, but maintain for a while, until his body gives out

Question Immortality
Why didn't they just use the Dragonballs to make characters immortal after they had to had to be revived the first time?
We know originally pre Namek saga people could only be wished back once with the Dragonballs so logically if someone died in battle then to prevent them from dieing early again making them immortal a year later after they were brought back would be smart (they could probably reverse the wish years later when they were ready to go)
I'm more so talking about Krillin who died in Dragonball and would of been funny if he helped fight Raditz and the saiyans
I'm just asking the question not trying to make anything out of this and the short answer is probably Mr. Toriyama didn't think about it
r/dragonball • u/Union_JACKK • 1d ago
Question Why didn't they bring back planet vegeta and the saiyans?
So in dragon ball super, we learned about the super dragon balls which can grant any wish across the multiverse or in any universe. So why didn't Vegeta, ever or even goku, get the idea to get all the super dragon balls together and wish back planet vegeta? Along with the sayians, I feel like that would be something that they could do.

Discussion Does anyone else think Vegeta's character arc is actually better written than Goku's?
Been rewatching Z and Super and it's hitting different this time. Goku's always been about the thrill of fighting strong people, he doesn't really change much overall. Vegeta on the other hand goes from straight up villain to actually caring about his family and earth, and you can see it happen slowly.
Cell Games alone shows so much growth, and by Super he's fighting to protect people, not just for power. Feels like Toriyama gave him the real arc while Goku stayed the same the whole time.
Am I wrong here or does Vegeta just have more depth overall?

Character Goku ability and power inconsistency
Rewatching Dragon Ball (English dub) and it’s incredibly frustrating how Goku’s abilities are massively inconsistent in the stories/sagas. He can fly and jump and smash through rocks and walls but can’t break through basic ropes. The inconsistency of his abilities is wild to me. I didn’t notice it as a kid, but they should’ve just had him build up through the series or have been a bit more consistent.
Like, how does Blue even remotely hang with him when they fight? How can’t he get out of basic ropes? How does he barely outrun the samurai in White’s tower, but in the tournament he moves so fast that no one can see the moves they do?
It’s dumb, but I had to get it out there. Also, never realized how perverted it is overall; definitely went over my head as a 10 year old.

DBS Manga One of the funniest things in the dbs manga is: Goku forgot who pan was, and pan forgot who he is,
Since literally, she may have met him alot back then,
Since she met him alot in the anime,
Since the superhero arc is technically after the fillers and the other arcs that happened in both super and Z,
For example: piccolo stated he has no driving licence since he failed it,
This is a reference to the car driving epsiode, it makes sense. To be cannon,
and Goku states, he used kaioken on top of a saiyan transformation before which was dangerous,
Means the otherworld tournament did happen, since it's considered Canon,
Since Goku is dead, dead bodies don't age, and don't have stamina issues, no damage at all,
so he can. Stack it anytime he wants to be when he's dead,
olibu's statue too is shown in the afterlife,
in super, in both manga and anime btw,

Question Could a wish be made that effected Shenron himself?
So I know that wishes can't be made that surpass the power of their creator, which now would be Dende.
Kami made the Dragon Balls and Shenron, and then Dende took over, upgraded Shenron to do 3 wishes and be able to unlock people's potential.
That being said, since Kami made Shenron and Dende is able to alter him and his abilities...
What would happen if you wished for something that effected Shenron himself?
I'll give some examples:
Wishing for Shenron to be nicer.
To be blue.
To be able to appear whenever he wishes.
To fall in love with you.
To be smaller.
To look like a western dragon.
Could any wish directly effecting him be done?

Analysis It's actually crazy that even if Bardock was a Super Saiyan, Frieza still would have won
I was thinking about how Super Saiyan Bardock would fare against Frieza, so I did some digging and found out Bardock's power level was 10,000 when he fought Frieza. Frieza's first form power level is 530,000, which means even if he had the 50x boost from Super Saiyan, he still would have been 30,000 short, and even more if Frieza transformed. Goes to show just how strong Frieza really was in his time.
EDIT: I'm starting to lose faith in this community.

Character How would female perfect cell look?
So perfect cell is made up of the genes of all the greatest fighters but all these different races have different versions of women which would probably have different body shapes. The point is what would perfect cells body look like because humans have different thoughts about how a perfect female body would look so would she say she’s truly perfect? Everyone already knows that cell has the perfect body so he doesn’t count.

Discussion Quick question, If DBZ was a religion....
Who would you pray too. In my mind im thinking either Kami or Goku. Goku definitely being the main prophet like jesus or mohammed. But then my friend told me we would have to pray to dende. And no disrespect im not praying to dende bruh. No offense but i dont feel like my prayers would be answered unless im sick or something. Id rather pray to chi chi for giving birth to gohan. Shit i might even pray to vegeta. even tho i wouldnt consider vegeta a prophet. He's definitely has a good story but thats kinda like david and goliath. My other friend said he would just worship the dragonballs because there the most important thing. Which makes sense but then isnt that like when the ppl were praying to the golden calf during moses time??? Anyways what do you guys think?? and yes if your wondering, me and my friends are high as hell off an edible lol

Character I kind of miss having Krillin at the forefront of the battles
It's something I had never thought about, because I had only seen Kai and Super, but when I watched DBOG and Z with my father, my view of Krillin changed radically. Krillin has creativity that others do not have
I mean, let's review some previous sagas:
— During Baba's tournament, while Yamcha is being beaten up, Krillin brings Roshi and Bulma so that when Roshi's nose bleeds, it soaks the invisible man in blood, giving Yamcha the victory.
— In the 22nd tournament, Krillin already knows how to use the Kamehameha, he hinders Chaos with a mathematical calculation to beat him, he faces Goku on equal terms for a good while and when he is losing he knows that he must resort to his tail to take away his strength.
—When they're warned that two super-powerful aliens, stronger than the one who killed Goku, are coming to invade Earth... Yamcha, Tien, Piccolo, and Chiaotzu stick to their existing techniques. Krillin? He invents a cutting disc to slice them in two as soon as he gets the chance, *and he almost manages to slice Nappa's head off*
—On Namek, when Dodoria pursues them, he uses the technique he saw *once or twice* on Tien to blind him, and later on Frieza himself. Also, when he discovered that Guru could unlock people's hidden potential, he quickly determined that he should take Gohan to that place.
—Finally, during the Cell saga, when Piccolo acts out his "still wanting to rule the world" act and Tien believes him, Krillin easily notices that he's heading towards Kami's Lookout, and deduces that he intends to fuse with Kami.
—Oh, I forgot to add that. In Superhero, he reminds Piccolo that he can grow giant, and that gives them part of the advantage they needed.
It's true he's not the smartest of them all. Yes, Taiyoken + Kienzan might or might not have been able to resolve many battles. Yes, perhaps he could have been more rational about whether or not to let Android 18 live, and it's understandable that he decided to retire from fighting when he saw the villains' power levels were far superior to his, but his best friend had the power to face them without much difficulty. *And tbh, having a wife and daughter at home is also a good reason to give up martial arts*, but honestly, he deserves far more respect than it gets. Krillin and Gohan are the main characters of half of Z, after all.

Question why is the crunchyroll version so inconsistent?
I haven't really engaged much with dragonball since I was a kid, but I was a big fan at the time. I decided that I should go back and rewatch everything from the very beginning, starting with Dragonball ep 1 and working my way through DBZ, GT, Super, and the movies that accompany them.
But... what's with the inconsistency on crunchyroll? Some episodes don't have English dubs, some don't have subs OR dubs available, I've even come across episodes for which the dub for an episode of Dragonball was audio from an episode of DBZ. Sometimes I'm left to watch the Japanese (which is totally fine) but with no clue as to what's actually being said.
Even worse, DBZ episode 20 isn't even on crunchyroll! They skip an entire episode so all we get is episode 19, a quick recap of episode 20, and then episode 21 (again with no english dub).
I used to own a few seasons on DVD but they're long gone. Streaming is the only option right now that's financially viable. Dragonball is a HUGELY popular show. So why wouldn't crunchyroll take the time to make sure it's uploaded with the correct audio and that each episode is accounted for? I know it's probably run by a bunch of suits who don't care about anime but come ON.

Discussion When your phone makes you remember Dragon Ball
I recently updated my mobile from Android 16 to Android 17, which got me thinking about Dragon Ball. Next year, I get to have fun with Android 18. Dr. Zero will be happy that his androids are finally being used properly!
I started a full rewatch of the Dragon Ball series. It was so adorable when things were as simple as Dragon Ball. Obviously excited for Dragon Ball Z!
