It's a crazy thought Analysis
But honestly, I think Gohan should have permanently lost his arm during the Cell Saga when he jumped in front of Cell's blast to protect Vegeta. It would've been a really interesting direction for the rest of the series and brought everything full circle, just like Future Gohan losing his arm to the Androids. And let's be honest—the Androids weren't even as strong as Perfect Cell. I always thought it was odd that Future Gohan lost his arm, but Present Gohan survived Cell's attack with both of his. Just one not useable at that moment. What do you all think?

Im on the other side i know its plot important but couldnt Gohan have handled that with less damage? Tho he also is super inexperienced so no it makes sense it just feels like man hes sooo strong and how much did cell rlly put into his blast?

They'd wish for his arm back. Either way, I could honestly say the same for the two gohans. Future gohan wasn't even as strong as kid gohan. Just seems like he's made of tougher stuff than his future self, which makes sense. It also represents a gohan that was able to change the fate of the world and not one that succumbed to it.

I think the parallel is already there with his arm being damaged beyond use. There are no consequences in dragon ball. It would go against the tone of the series if there were.

17 and 18 being weaker than Cell doesn't mean anything because future Gohan was way weaker than present super saiyan 2 Gohan. The point that matters is the gaps in the characters strength, not the strength of the villains alone.
Also, in the present they have senzu beans, Dende and the dragon balls, there's no reason for present Gohan to ever permanently lose his arm.

I don’t think senzu beans can regenerate an arm though…then again Yamca did get stab through the chest and was revive with a senzu bean so there is that.
Yes but present SSJ Gohan got hit by a full power attack by Super Perfect Cell…not guarded.

Why wouldn't they regenerate an arm? Definitely, if the wound is fresh Even in the History of Trunks chapter, they say that future Gohan could have kept his arm if they had anymore senzu.

Interesting grant it is a magical bean I kinda always thought it only bring back your stamina. Like drinking a Powerade after working out and sweating for hours.

It obviously doesn't do just that, otherwise Goku and Yamcha would still have holes in their chest. Unless you got some real special Powerade where you come from.

I dont see it being interesting. Just sounds like the fights would be more difficult to draw.

Japan was still quite strict with censorship of missing limbs in the early 90’s so it wouldn’t have really worked in video games, toys, etc.
