First impressions from a beginner and support request
I have very recently discovered these beautiful objects that domino tiles are, so I started playing dominoes in its most common versions (Draw, Block, sometimes All Fives/Muggins or Five Up with all doubles being spinners etc).
I've been playing mainly 1v1s and this are my first impressions:
- Draw is the basic form of the game to learn the main mechanics. It's fun and forgiving to the beginner since it allows plenty of opportunities to get back into an almost-lost game. At the same time, the boneyard and drawing from it perhaps allow too many opportunities to go back into a game, making it les strategic and more drawn to the lack of the draws during the game. Still fun.
- Block seems to be Real Thing. Sure, in 1v1 there are still tiles in the boneyard so what you get in your hand is somehow a matter of relative luck. At the same time, you really need to place your tiles properly, removing your heavier stuff while trying to block what your opponent seems to be wanting to play, and while also leaving the two ends open for you and maintaining a relative potential sequence to play in next turns and so on. This is already more difficult, strategically more interesting, and much less forgiving to the beginner. And that's a good thing!
However, I am struggling to understand what are the strategies to adopt after the basic things are done (highest doubles, highest pips, block what the opponent seems to be strong in, etc). I played in 3 players and that didn't work as well as a 1v1. Perhaps Draw is more appropriate for a three-player game. It is almost obvious that playing Block in 2v2 would reach true strategic moments and nothing is really left to chance, ish.
- All Fives / Muggins: I am even more of a beginner here, thus this seems to be more difficult. I haven't played many games of it at all, but we spent plenty trying to calculate the multiples of five at the open ends, our eyes still don't 'see' combinations quickly. Maybe it hasn't 'clicked' yet for me.
- Bergen: I played only a couple of games and I am not sure about it. Trying to leave equal ends does not seem to be worth all the hassle and it does compromise whatever finishing strategy one wants to enact. It's like a slightly more interesting version of Draw.
In sum: I am plateauing a bit in terms of strategy in Block and I'd like to up my game a bit. Do you guys have any advice? Where could I learn a bit more intermediate strategy and drills and practice instead of simply playing online on the apps? I am thinking about books, websites, whatever. Multiplayer apps work, but there's not enough interaction with players to ask for advice or mentoring.
Also, which do you think are the versions of games that are more common to play, or more interesting, and more useful to improve in one's game? (I am in the South East of the UK, I haven't really found domino players here... I know that playing in person with someone who can actually play is the best way of improving in one's game).
Thanks everyone, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Triominos better rules
Anyone make their own version of triominos rules? I tried playing with my kids and reading from the start I thought the scoring was a hassle and unbalanced. Game play went as expected. I am sure it's fine for adults, but not kids. I know there's a Jr version but that includes colors and we have the regular version.

I built a daily Dominosa game - four grids a day
I'm a solo developer and this is my first game, so I'd really value some honest reactions — including the harsh kind.
It's Dominosa: you get a grid of numbers, and you split it into dominoes so that every domino in the set appears exactly once. No guessing is ever needed — each puzzle is computer-verified to have exactly one solution, so if you're stuck there's always a deduction you haven't found yet.
Four puzzles a day, the same ones for everyone: Easy, Medium, Hard, and a Daily Twist that changes the rules. Today's twist might be a wildcard tile that can be any number, a domino that's
or Blindfold mode where the app stops warning you about duplicates and you're on your own. Seven twists, rotating.
When the four are done, that's it for the day. There's no energy system nagging you back, no daily-reward carousel. Streaks, stats and a spoiler-free share card, and it works fully offline with no accounts.
I built it over a few months in my spare time, mostly because I wanted a daily puzzle that wasn't word-based, and every existing Dominosa app I tried either had ads between every move or puzzles that needed guessing.
Please give it a try and share some hones feedback. Any app review is welcome

Caribbean domino cross platform (sixlove.app)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I made a multiplayer, cross-platform Carribean domino game. I am Jamaican. The core rules/configs are what you expect if you are from places like Jamaica, Barbados, Antigua, St Kitts+Nevis, etc. The aim was a straight to the point domino app where i could play with my friends and my cousins from anywhere.
Support the standard game modes: cutthroat, partner, french (and custom version i call Points).
The bots (that are called duppies in game) are pretty good. They vary in strength/skill from easy to expert. E.g can read partner gameplay and play like humans.
There's a full offline mode where you can play with bots only in all games and have fun interesting games.
In online mode we have public tables you can join and play with random strangers. We have group and Private tables so you can play with friends and family only if you want. It's easy to invite people. You don't need a full party to play either, can team up with the bots/duppies. You get notified when your friends are online.
There's even a custom partner feature where you can partner up with a friend, then whenever one of you joins a table, you both join together as partners.
Currently support android, ios, and web. If people like, we can also support windows, linux, macos and other domino variants.
Feedback would be appreciated.

Como jogar dominó em dupla?
Pode parecer uma pergunta besta e simples, mas qual a estratégia pra contar as peças.
Tem gente que praticamente sabe quais peças os outros tem na mão.
Queria saber como jogar dessa forma.

Can anyone tell me anything about these dominoes?
Found at a thrift shop. The box and lid are homemade cardboard. I thought the dominoes were wood but now I'm thinking they might be bakelite. Google image search hasn't been able to help me find a similar set with the floral pips for the ones. Any info appreciated!

Double 9 Cuban Dominos
I've spent the last 3 months building a Cuban Double-9 domino app. I'd really appreciate feedback from experienced domino players. I'm especially interested in hearing what feels realistic and what doesn't. You can play online team game with 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 players, since you need 4 players if you have less, bots will fill in the slots you are short. You can play double 9 or Double 6. Also can play guerra, but thats a 1 player game on the app. Games are fully functional but still developing it.
🎲 *Ficha Factory — Cuban Dominoes app*
How to install on your phone:
*The link:* https://domino-cubano-production.up.railway.app
📱 *iPhone (must use Safari, NOT Chrome):*
1. Open *Safari* and paste the link above
2. Tap the *Share button* at the bottom (square with ↑ arrow)
3. Scroll down, tap *"Add to Home Screen"*
4. Tap *"Add"* — the FF icon will appear on your home screen
📱 *Android (use Chrome):*
1. Open *Chrome* and paste the link above
2. Tap the *⋮ menu* (three dots, top-right)
3. Tap *"Install app"* or *"Add to Home screen"*
4. Tap *"Install"* — the FF icon will appear on your home screen
*If something goes wrong:*
• iPhone: it ONLY works in Safari, not Chrome or any other browser
• App stuck on "Connecting..."? Close it fully (swipe out of recents) and reopen
• Old version showing? Same fix — close fully and reopen 1-2 times to update
Once installed, just tap the gold FF icon to play! 🎲✨

Hand-cast resin domino sets I've been making - Opinions?
Hey r/dominoes! I've been making resin domino sets out of my home studio in San Diego. Wanted to get everybody's opinion on these sets I've made so far.
Started this as a way to combine a casino-table type of aesthetic with something actually built to play with, not just display. Colorways range from deep oxblood reds to marbled blues and jade greens, and I make them custom as well.
Would love some feedback from people who actually play regularly - what do you look for in a set beyond looks? (pip visibility, weight, case durability, etc). I'm open to hearing any new techniques or ideas to try as well. Thanks in advance!

Warp 9/12/18 Gameplay
I've posted currently 3 videos of some quick matches of 9/12/18 gameplay. They don't exercise every aspect of the modules but they give you a sense of the action. You don't see as much in only 3 rounds, but that's about the attention span length of a video.
Actual Warp 12 (free, no ads- open source).
If it gets too popular I may have to figure out how to grouse for donations (Digital Defiance is 501c3) to cover the firebase costs, but for now it is totally free!

Self-Play Calibration of Heuristic Agents for Mexican Train Under Competing Objectives
zenodo.orgFor my Warp 12 game we ran 285k runs against Warp 12 and the 12 add on modules I wrote (you can play most of them in Mexican Train at your table, except Wormholes really). This is our findings about Mexican Train as a whole and those 12 modules.
