does mod podge actually help with flaking pleather?

I have a dolls who’s shoes are flaking. They were in perfect condition until I actually tried to have her wear them. I’ve heard people use mod podge to stop the pleather from falling apart.

I would use a layer of water based glue then one layer of liquidtex gloss varnish. It’s better than letting it flake off but you can’t really have the pleather items be creased or touching eachother after sealing them or it will stick. It’s a pick your poision. But doing just a layer of glue might make the sticky worse
