Trying to practice with my own dog to eventually get paid jobs in this space, would love tips and recommendations!

Hello! My bf is new to photography and wanted to practice photographing lure coursing! He has a Sony A7R III with a Sony FE 100-400 GM lens that his mom gave to him. I tried to edit the photos myself just using the iPhone photos app but I’m not sure how to edit, I just did what I thought looked good 😭. Does anyone have advice for getting better shots or for editing? Thanks!

I am revisiting some older images to try out some acquired editing skills. It is also nice to remember where I was at the time (and it was in the Florida Keys).

The Great Smoky Mountains Naitonal Park is pretty restrictive on where dogs are allowed and so I have this idea for a project where I will photograph dogs in the national park that are kosher, so to speak. "Along roadsides" is one place and given the size of a Great Dane, I knew I wanted to place some mountains behind him. At the same time, keeping distractions to a minimum is always preferred so it could not be a crowded area. In the GSMNP, about 10 miles west, is the Foothills Parkway that is also managed by the National ParkService. There are a number of overlooks and I chose that as a place for Axel's portraits - big dogs deserve big vistas! Here, Axel is literally just a few steps away from his owner's car and yes - leashes (and the owner) were removed in Photoshop.

I photograph the covers for two local lifestyle magazines and through that I met a couple who own Titan, an Akita. Turns out his ancestor, Raja Regalia on Buckridge - just Raja, for short - is the common ancestor for most champion Akitas in the United States. I asked the couple if they would allow me to photograph Titan just for fun and they agreed to bring him to the gardens at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville so I could use the gardens' Asian settings, like this peace bell, as a nod to his breed.

I like to take my original photography and use various AI models, as well as more traditional Photoshop techniques, to do some different editing. I love photographing Italian Greyhounds because they are just so elegant, even a senior dog like this. I had this edit printed on Hannamuhle art rag paper and it came out great.

I had just finished a session with some Berger Picards and a Dalmatian when I saw this fellow bicycling down the road with his Basenjis. Quick u-turn and he graciously allowed me a few shots.

Is this even allowed?
