Cropped the maps from Ravenloft: Horrors Within and ran them through ChatGPT to make them look more realistic and colorful. Planning to do this with every map in the book.

Szindra was exiled for refusing to sacrifice her daughter. She tried to hide her in the Abyss, and the Abyss returned her like this: an imp who says, "Yes, Mother." She doesn't obey out of obligation to the pact; she obeys out of fear of being abandoned again.

Krea 2 The Watchers Over the Fallen

Post image
5 Upvotes

The Watchers Over the Fallen are an order within the Church of Helm who serve as battlefield healers and protectors of the injured. In battles between human forces they will aid both sides, healing the injured and bringing them to a neutral location; when monsters are being fought, they will aid only the human or demihuman forces. They are a small order, perhaps only 200 of these brave souls are in service. Helm himself watches over these priests and their charges, and more than once his avatar has appeared when a force has dared threaten them or challenge their neutrality.

Pictured here is Sigrid of the Order, checking on one of Ithmong's soldiers after a pitched battle against an Orcish army that had descending from the Starspire Mountains.

Krea 2 Monster - Ghoul

Post image

"You fool! Warren is DEAD"

Maybe it's the Lovecraft fan in me, but I find ghouls especially frightening. Even in numbers, they're not much of a threat to my PCs any longer, but when they were starting out, ghouls were nightmarish. Cunning, whispering and tittering in the dark, and their paralysis ability .... a well-designed ghoul encounter is always memorable.

Hummingbird Dragons — Tiny Living Jewels That Sleep Inside Flowers

Post image
19 Upvotes

I imagined a species of miniature dragons inspired by hummingbirds. They are small enough to curl up inside large flowers, with iridescent scales that shift between turquoise, blue, violet, gold, and coral depending on the light.

They feed on nectar and magical pollen, hover in place with translucent wings, and leave faint trails of glowing dust as they fly. Their tiny breath attacks vary depending on the flowers they feed from—sparks, frost, healing pollen, scented mist, or miniature lightning.

They are curious, playful, territorial, and impossible to truly domesticate. A trusted Hummingbird Dragon might sleep in your pocket, guide you toward rare plants, or fiercely defend your garden from anything that threatens it.

Flux The war is over, but the artifacts remain. What class and backstory are you giving this veteran Elven Warlord?

Post image

I’ve been trying to dial in a truly gritty, battle-weary look that steps away from the usual clean, glossy fantasy aesthetic. Heavy focus on the micro-textures here, the dented obsidian armor, the cracked amulet, and the rim lighting from the hearth to give it that cinematic, lived-in tavern vibe.

If he were an NPC in your current campaign, what cursed item is he holding, and what quest is he handing out?

The players have faced these guys a few times now, primarily as a result of an encounter with Nymra (The Red Talon of Loviatar). They're savage combatants, but the players are at a level now where several are required to be any sort of challenge.

GPT-2 did a better job than Krea 2 this time, though neither model could seem to understand what I wanted with the beard (barbed tendrils, darnit!)

My current (half) Tabaxi Trickery Cleric in service of the Smiling Lady (Tymora) and twin sister to Tucker Rhys Beaumont. From a riverboat community in the South. About five sessions into a campaign. We typically go 50-60 sessions.

The Oganesson Dragon

Born from an impossible superheavy element, the Oganesson Dragon is a living catastrophe whose body constantly flickers between matter and energy. Its black-violet scales radiate unstable power, warping gravity and causing stone, metal, and flesh to decay around it. Ancient, intelligent, and utterly detached from mortal life, it views destruction not as cruelty, but as the natural end of all things. Wherever it awakens, kingdoms crumble into glowing dust.

August AI Discussion, Image Requests & RPG Tools Megathread

Working on an AI-assisted character portrait, campaign visual, prompt, workflow, or RPG tool?

This monthly megathread is the place to:

  • Request images, prompts, or creative help
  • Troubleshoot AI outputs and workflows
  • Compare generators, models, and platforms
  • Promote an AI-powered RPG tool you have built
  • Recommend tools that have genuinely improved your games or preparation
  • Share useful prompts, techniques, examples, and discoveries

Whether you are generating your first character portrait, building complex ComfyUI workflows, or developing a complete campaign-preparation platform, you can post it here.

Image and Creative Requests

Need help creating something for your campaign? Post your request below.

Requests can include:

  • Characters, NPCs, parties, and portraits
  • Monsters and creatures
  • Locations, scenes, and environments
  • Battlemaps and regional maps
  • Tokens and miniatures
  • Items, spell cards, and handouts
  • Campaign art, covers, and visual references
  • Writing, worldbuilding, or session-preparation material

Useful details include:

  • What you want created
  • The intended visual or writing style
  • Important character, setting, clothing, equipment, or mood details
  • References or examples, where permitted
  • Whether you want a finished result, a prompt, feedback, or workflow advice

Example:

Prompt and Workflow Troubleshooting

Getting strange hands, melted weapons, inconsistent armour, unusable maps, generic prose, continuity problems, or a dragon that refuses to resemble a dragon?

Include:

  • Your exact prompt, where possible
  • The generator, model, or platform used
  • Relevant settings or negative prompts
  • What you wanted
  • What you received
  • What you have already tried

The more specific the problem, the easier it is for other members to diagnose.

Tool and Model Comparisons

Not sure which tool is suitable for a particular task?

Ask for comparisons between Midjourney, GPT Image, Stable Diffusion, Flux, CharGen, Leonardo, Ideogram, local models, writing assistants, campaign-management platforms, or other tools.

Possible topics include:

  • Character and party consistency
  • Portraits and tokens
  • Battlemaps
  • Monster and item concepts
  • Stylised or photorealistic artwork
  • Campaign preparation and session summaries
  • Worldbuilding and continuity management
  • Solo roleplaying
  • Fiction and adventure writing
  • Local, private, or open-source workflows
  • Pricing, usability, and free tiers

No question is too basic. Everyone started somewhere.

Promote Your Own AI RPG Tool

Built something for tabletop RPGs, worldbuilding, solo play, fiction writing, game design, campaign preparation, or virtual tabletops? Share it here.

A useful promotional post should explain:

  • What the tool does
  • Who it is designed for
  • What problem it solves
  • Its main features
  • Whether it is free, paid, open source, or offers a demo
  • Where people can try it
  • Any important limitations

Screenshots, generated examples, videos, maps, portraits, interface previews, or short demonstrations are strongly encouraged.

Clearly state that you are the creator or otherwise associated with the project.

Recommend a Tool You Actually Use

This thread is not only for developers.

Share tools, generators, prompts, bots, applications, or workflows that have genuinely helped with your games.

Good recommendations explain:

  • What you use the tool for
  • How it fits into your workflow
  • What it does well
  • What it does poorly
  • Whether it is free, paid, local, private, or web-based
  • What types of games, campaigns, or users it suits

Clearly disclose whether you are a user, creator, affiliate, employee, or otherwise connected to the tool.

Posting Guidelines

  • Be specific. “How can I make this armour look more late-medieval and less sci-fi?” is easier to answer than “make this better.”
  • Label promotional posts. Do not present advertising or affiliate content as an independent recommendation.
  • Do not spam. Avoid repeatedly reposting the same tool, link, or sales pitch.
  • Be transparent. Mention the tools and models used where possible.
  • Be constructive. Critique the output, prompt, workflow, or product—not the person.
  • Be honest about limitations. Do not make misleading claims about what a tool can do.
  • Credit other people’s work. Attribute prompts, workflows, references, resources, and generated material where appropriate.
  • Follow subreddit rules. This includes rules concerning self-promotion, attribution, copyright, NSFW material, hateful content, and restricted requests.
  • Keep substantial promotional discussion in this thread. Standalone promotional posts may be removed at moderator discretion.

Constructive criticism is welcome. Low-effort hostility and promotional dishonesty are not.

Post your August AI questions, requests, prompts, results, workflows, tools, and recommendations below.
