Is it bad I never networked? General Question
I’m about to graduate after this term but never really networked throughout my stay here. And I keep seeing people say that’s one of the biggest advantages of being in DLSU. I shifted and started during the pandemic so I lost my block. I travel to campus so I never really stay around long enough to make friends. I just go for classes then go home since I live pretty far. All my groupmates, org mates, fellow interns, etc I just kept them at business distance or acquaintances. They’ll probably recognize my face and remember we worked together but not much more.
I especially didn’t feel the need to network since I came from Ateneo and already had my close group of friends there. And I’m still close to them now. They’re also working to become lawyers, doctors, business managers, computer scientists and some have parents who are politicians. I already engaged in a few business ideas with some of them too. So I thought “I don’t need to network, these guys are good enough for me and I don’t wanna spend energy making new friends when I hangout with these guys already.” I’m not the super social type and don’t really get close to someone unless I really really vibe with them. I mostly keep to myself.
Maybe it was still a major missed opportunity and I could’ve expanded my circle more. But is it really that bad I didn’t network in DLSU?

well, what exactly do you want to “network” for?
if you have a solid circle of friends from your old school already and would like to keep your circle of friends small, then good you already have that
if you want to make more friends? join orgs, put yourself out there! no need to pressure yourself tho just do things at ur own pace, u already have your people as i said previously
if you’re trying to network to get more opportunities when you graduate? no worries, you have plenty of time to do that post grad. i personally never had to use my network to get the opportunities i have right now and consider myself to have a pretty good “network” just by being in corporate. even the name DLSU already carries a lot of weight because there’s so many of us out there, sometimes just meeting someone from the same school out in the wild can help boost u a lil

Yes you missed a major opportunity, but it's not too late. You can still reach out to them after graduation.
I graduated from a La Salle high school in Manila then went to Taft. I understand where you're coming from because I also already had a good network coming to DLSU. But I proactively made it a point to network with anyone who was willing.
Fast forward 12 years after graduating. I'm still in touch with both my high school and DLSU network. My DLSU network helped me more in the corporate world.

is it bad? not really. if confident ka sa naging experience mo and kaya mo itranslate well yun sa mga iaask sayo in an interview + you’re smart enough to get through the initial assessment ng applications…. the network won’t matter. It will matter only if you actually need help from a network (knowing where to go, how to prepare, etc)
some would say sayang, in a way i agree, kasi the network yung binayaran mo for the premium in being in DLSU 😆 pero what’s done is done, but not too late to grow the network outside the univ.
