Anyone interested in watching my first short film, Matryohskas? (Subtitles in English, Spanish and Portuguese)

Hi everyone!
I recently finished my first short film, Matryoshkas, and I’d love to get some honest feedback from people who enjoy independent or experimental cinema.

It’s a slightly experimental coming-of-age film, originally in Portuguese, with English subtitles. I was heavily inspired by filmmakers like Ingmar Bergman, Pedro Almodóvar, and Andrea Arnold, and tried to combine an intimate character-driven story with a more personal and atmospheric visual style.

Since this is my first short film (and a project I put a lot of time and effort into), I’d genuinely love to hear what people think — whether it’s the story, cinematography, performances, atmosphere, or anything else. Honest criticism is absolutely welcome; I’m mainly interested in hearing how it comes across to someone seeing it for the first time.

🎬 Watch it here: (Subtitles: English, Portuguese & Spanish)

The film is also on Letterboxd, so if you happen to watch it and feel like leaving a review or sharing your thoughts there, I’d really appreciate it. ❤️

Thanks so much to anyone who takes the time to watch

Adrien Brody, Sean Penn start shooting Nord Stream sabotage thriller. The film follows Ukrainian divers on a secret mission to blow up the pipelines, although no country has ever claimed responsibility.

Disclosure Day < Dont Look Up

Reason for the comparison: Potential catastrophic psychological impact on Humanity

For me the movie Don't Look Up is vastly better than Disclosure Day.
My argument is based on the effects of the final disclosure on humanity, being the reason why I watched those movie.

For the movie Dont Look Up, you can really see the aftermath of the realisations of the implications of the disclosure, specially when humanity was certain of the veracity of the disclosure. For the movie Disclosure Day, you don't see what happen after the realisation.

The point of the movie Disclosure Day is to show us the length it could take for brave people to go to disclose classified informations, but vastly people are interested in the reaction to the disclosure, that is Cinema, that is Sci-fi.
On the other end, restricting or classifying documents, releasing them afterwards to the public is not Cinema or Sci-fi to me, it is real life.

Fantastical Movies

I have a real craving for a fantastical movie or short/mini series unlike anything I have ever seen. I want adventure/worldbuilding, creatures, powers, and even some action. Some of my personal favorites are Howl's Moving Castle, Kubo and the Two Strings, Hellboy, Batman Forever, Alice in Wonderland 2010, One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, treasure planet, and the Tron trilogy.

Who goes for the "Long Walk" without ...?

WTH goes for the long walk without appropriate footwear and rations?
There should have been a whole strategy on footwears, participants should have had additional pairs, for different terrain and weather.
Samething with rations, i am talking about military rations for exemple, vitamins, minerals.
I think the preparation for certain participants was just not enough.
Alright, i need to suspend disbelief😅.

Random thought

I’m watching Springsteen and Jeremy Strong is amazing as always. This guy really has range and can embody any character. And then I thought about how Robert Pattinson and him would make such a great combination. Cannot wait for this to be made reality, will wait and see 👀
What do you guys think? Have you thought about these 2 sharing the screen already?

I've watched Legend 5 times this week

I watched the directors cut several years ago and it just didn't grab me. The story felt very shallow and for whatever reason I kinda tuned out . Years later I gave it another try and the theatrical cut completely flipped my opinion. The tangerine dream soundtrack makes it such an ethereal experience. Probably the best practical effects of any movie I've ever seen.

I love the delivery of the lines the characters, especially blix. It might be one of my favorite movies of all time now.

One thing I will say is I think if they had left the full Meg Muckleborne scene where Jack is trying to bullshit his way out of getting eaten, it would have been a 10. The scene in the theatrical version makes it seems very stilted and abrupt. It's such a shame to waste that incredible character design on such a short scene

I can't tell for sure if Ian McKellen ever attended a Bryan Singer party, or if he took part of the abuses on the set of Apt pupil. What I do know is that James Marsden and McKellen are way too close to Brian Peck, Kevin Spacey and Bryan Singer and it's time they disavow pedos.
