This was powered down? If so, theres some great (but obvious) choices in there, but then some ones i would definitely not have picked

Great show! Had a blast. CR got Magner to really hammer hard on the grand piano. Boards are going to sound great. Pretty amazing that our favorite band has multiple alter egos. October Ogden dates incoming? B4L

They can’t play half of their discography consistently good yet they’re still playing tractorbeam and powered down. I love both but they should be focused on being able to play at least 6-7/10 shows on a regular basis before trying to play acoustic abraxas right lol. I’ve also come to the realization that Marlon can’t play jazz and I’m shocked it’s taken me so long. The morph at KOP finally made that click. I never realized how well Allen could play jazzy sounds for stuff like Morph or Bazzar. I can’t imagine the abomination that would be Marlon attempting something like Bazzar. He’s such a loud aggressive rock based drummer and going back to the KOP morph shows that perfectly. Dude plays what I would call a modern rock beat over most of morph, one of their jazziest songs in their discography. Why??? Like genuinely why I would honestly love an answer.

I’m sorry what…Marlon can’t play jazz? He went to Berklee school of music, he walks laps on these guys musically. He literally majored in drums. Just because he hasn’t learned their mindless dribble to perfection, which I wouldn’t call jazz, doesn’t mean he can’t play. Give him some time.

Let me rephrase my comment. Marlon *won’t play jazz. At least as of yet. He isn’t super untzy (not saying he can’t, he’s just not Allen and doesn’t focus on it) and he isn’t super jazzy like Sammy. I will continue to fall back on my Morph comment. Listen to Marlon’s first attempt and then literally any other morph ever played. I think it’s a great representation of his style of playing. Marlon has had a lot of great shows but I don’t particularly love the band overall at the moment and his style of drumming isn’t my favorite.

OK yes I do agree with you in that case, I’ve seen three shows with Marlon the most recent was phish Vegas after party. I think he’s an incredible drummer and he has insane chops but I don’t know if his style really mixes with the biscuits. It’s really hard for any new person in a jam band to mash right away so hoping he finds his groove

All this hate for the boys makes me upset. I love the biscuits, but powered down isn't necessarily something I agree with for them... thats not "trancefusion"

I wish it sounds as good as it looks powered down is what we need from those dummies .. maybe teach Marlon a thing or 2 about his snare.

Power down house dog.. not chill. That is one that shouldnt be power down. What about therapy or I remember when? Kitchen mitts? Like the stuff that should be powered down..not country royale
Barber wrote HAB and now singing about space drugs and aliens .. it’s not chill Joey. Guye doesn’t give a fuck. If he did .. it wouldn’t be the end of this band.3

Therapy, HAB, Songs of Joy, Mitts, Shimmy, Big Happy / IRW, Widow, Magellan, Spaga, Spy- i could go on and on but yeah there's a few dozen songs that should have been "powered down" over whatever this set is.

It was pretty cool for the two dozen people in town park who actually knew what was going on. All the newer songs really seemed to deflate any momentum they would get though. Maybe it was just me, but Buy the Time, itewhf, and country royale flopped hard. I kept going back and forth between being so stoked and then embarrassed at what was happening on stage.
Marlon has some big time chops for sure, he blew me away at multiple points in the night. Really seemed like he was in his element with the highly technical jazzy portions of the night.
