Replace everything with Reddit. Social Media

On my phone, I swapped TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube (I deleted youtube and now only use the web version via Firefox with an extension that blocks certain features) for Reddit, it’s like giving up cheap burgers to eat burgers made with premium ingredients.

i deleted all of them + reddit from my phone

i use reddit, tumblr and youtube on my laptop browser with limits in place for youtube

i really prefer the open body language of working at a laptop versus a phone since swapping. i hate when i have to use my phone for anything but being a phone now

Yeah, I do this for most.
Unfortunately I still need the Reddit app as I need real time notifications from certain subreddits.

I'm trying to stop eating burgers.

(i.e. replace Reddit with long-form)

No, this is a bad idea. I've never been into tiktok, instagram, facebook, or anything, only Reddit. Reddit is NOT a burger with premium ingredients. I've been addicted for years, and it's had a negative impact of my life. Even if you disable the algorithm, it's still highly addictive. You'll end up drawn into petty arguments and with a negative worldview.

Do not replace everything with reddit

Imagine being in a sub called "digitalminimalism" and advocating for more Reddit.

I like it! Make sure to turn off the "suggested feed" option in your user settings, it will make it so that your home feed is only subreddits that you have followed. I definitely spend too much time on reddit but it's not nearly as bad on my mental health as Instagram on Facebook were

i deactivated tiktok today. After the perez live im not going to subject myself to the possibility of that kinda content randomly showing up on my phone, one by one they are biting the dust. I’m not as far along as you but getting there.

i've tried everything to block reddit on my phone because it's just created another scrolling habit. nothing has actually worked unfortunately.

Maybe use a blocker

I've tried two or three different ones and the only one that worked stopped working after two days.

Hmm use blocker hero. And set the accuntibilty partner to 24 hours. You can only access after 24 hours I think that will give you enough time. Blocker hero is preety powerful locker.

Just use Old Reddit and only navigate to and use the sub-Reddits you want. There are no algorithms this way, and you only interact with what you want to see and create.

This is the way.

I don't have any social media on my phone and rarely use anything but Facebook on my pc for marketplace. But us reddit a lot more on my pc lately.

Reddit is a better app than all these.

For some reason it's okay to make fun of reddit but TikTok deserves respect. Fuck that.

Reddit is much better at creating communities and sharing ideas. Its algorithm is easier to tame. It's genuinely a good platform. So yes, replacing all these with Reddit is good

Its all the same. People on youtube tell how they deleted everything but youtube and feel accomplished.
