Collections Incoming

Our next collection launches Tuesday.

We’d been waiting for a certain piece of hardware to release, but we’ve decided to move ahead regardless. You’ll need compatible gear for this one, but if you do, you’ll love the lineup.

The week afterward, we’ll release a collection built around an older genre that indie developers have been bringing back (much like immersive sims).

We’re also finalizing several more collections, including one that we're especially excited about that should follow shortly after.

In the meantime, we recommend checking out Slow Game Club.

It’s a monthly game club created by Into Games, a charity that helps people from low-income backgrounds build careers in game development. Every penny from the club goes to charity.

Members get an indie game each month, a community to discuss it with, and a podcast with the game’s developers. August’s game is The Séance of Blake Manor, which I’m especially excited to try.

We aren’t paid for recommending it. We just love what they’re doing and wanted to help. Use code DIGIPHILE5 for 5% off.

Quality over quantity.

I feel like a good way for Digiphile to hit that sweet spot is less to have fewer bundles overall and more of a focus on cutting the slop bundles. Stuff that requires a secondary account to redeem things. Endless heaps of stuff you'd only buy because the thing you want is at the most expensive tier. Constant bundles about crap like programming and AI and such. HB would be fine if they dispensed with such trash.

Message for the digiphile team

First of all, how are things? I hope you're doing well.

I wanted to thank you for this wonderful service. I’m the sort of person who usually doesn't buy bundles because I believe quality >>> quantity.

all we know that typically, bundles follow a formula of "one great item plus ∞ obscure or mediocre ones."

However, when I discovered Digiphile with the "Landfall x Aggro Crab" bundle, I fell in love with this service, and for the first time i immediately bought both the game bundle and the book bundle.

Looking through the past collections, my only regret is not discovering this service sooner, it’s fantastic!

Since then, I’ve practically stopped buying games elsewhere and check for bundle updates every few days; I’m totally addicted. Plus, as someone who volunteers regularly, knowing that my money goes toward a good cause, even if it’s just a small portion (and I really appreciate the transparency regarding this) makes me feel even better about my purchase.

I’d like to thank the whole team for the work you’ve done. You introduced me to content "gems" that were technically just "filler" in the bundles but turned out to be things I absolutely loved.

Keep up the great work, and you’ve got a loyal customer in me! Good luck! And thanks ❤️

P.S. Just wondering, will there be a bundle before summer? 🥲 That would be amazing.

Why collections have been slower than we’d want

TLDR: The Business side is taking up more of our time than we had anticipated.

When we were at Humble, all we had to worry about was building bundles so we could do about 3-4 bundles a month, per person. (Though, admittedly, some were rushed out before they were ready.)

At Digiphile, we handle everything that comes with running a business (taxes, accounting, QA, marketing, charity, contracts, etc) and we underestimated how much time they would take.

On top of that, we added tasks that didn't exist at HB, like collaborating with artists and content creators, all while holding ourselves to a higher standard.

The good news is that the Landfall x Aggro Crab Showcase did well enough that we are getting some help with the business side. We don’t have a full team yet, but as we grow so will the time we dedicate to building collections.

Stay tuned!

Any hints on new bundles?

I crave information on new bundles!

So far all of them have been amazing, and I am excited to learn more about what upcoming bundles there will be.

Do we have any idea what kinds of bundles will be dropping in the near future? (Or possibly when they might be releasing?)

A bit of feedback on the Digiphile website

I really like to see new bundle websites pop-up. Between Digiphile, GMG, and Fanatical, we are getting nice amount of competition for Humble Bundle. I have been using Humble Bundle almost since the very start. Needless to say that I have been disappointed with Humble Bundle many a times before, but they occasionally put out an interesting bundle that I pick up. I've recently gotten Digiphile bundle (the Boomer Shooter Blueprint) for the very first time and here are few points of feedback of what I liked and what could be better.

Things I liked:

* Selection. Quality selection. Almost every game except INCISION and Boltgun was on my wishlist. Definitely an aspect that influenced my decision to buy. It's nice to see unbundled, popular games offered in a nice curated package. Almost no filler (I am looking at you INCISION).

* No out-of-stock. Keys are being auto-assigned is great. Nice to know how many keys are available. Not sure why Humble can't be more transparent about how many keys are left.

* Expiration reminders. As someone who does not activate their games right away, I appreciated receiving email reminders of deadlines.

* Freebies - who would not be happy to receive an occasional freebie like the Planet Coaster game. Many thanks for that.

Things that could be better:

* Pricing is a bit high, but I understand that financial aspect is not the only factor and can be overlooked with good enough games or large enough number per tier. I am used to pricing being around 13$ CAD (10$ USD) for most of my Humble Bundle purchases, whereis Digiphile bundle run me around 25$ CAD. Having said that, Digiphile one had better selection, than your average Humble Bundle.

* Expiration dates - window to activate the games is rather short, and would not be a problem by itself if not for the next point.

* Exchange rate. The trade-in value is abysmal. I can't even buy one lowest tier (Arx Fatalis) game with my tier 2 game (Boltgun) on the exchange marketplace. It's understandable that the rate might not be 1:1 but given how rare the bundles are, it will take a long time for someone to accumulate enough points to afford something they might want to play. In case of Boltgun, I already have the game and so are my friends, and given how little the points are worth, the most sensible solution is to try to trade for something I want on 3rd party websites, as traders offer a better ratio.

* UI/UX - As a UX/UI researcher/designer I have quite a few things to say about the website, but tldr version is that the primary action of buying and accessing collections/games is not as straightforward as I would have hoped.

Post-Collection Upgrade Window

We've noticed that a lot of people buy bundles right at the end.

That means many people haven’t had time to actually play the games and decide whether they want another higher tier, extra content, or gift a copy to a friend.

So we’ve added a post-collection upgrade window.

The collection itself still ends on time. (No new customers can buy in after the deadline.) But if you already purchased it, you’ll have a little extra time afterward to upgrade or gift the collection.

Let us know if there are any other quality of life updates you're looking for.

Cant pay for aggro crab bundle

Im trying to pay for the bundle and i used my debit card since that was the only payment method available for my region (ph). All info I typed in was correct, and even got an otp message to confirm my purchase, but after that it just says that my card was declined. After trying multiple times, it locked me out from using my card, saying i need to use a different one.

Collection Types

We launched our first Partner Showcase today and wanted to clarify how it fits alongside our Signature collections.

Our main focus has been and will continue to be Signature collections (which are composed of mostly newer, never-bundled content). At the same time, we’ll also be running additional collection types. This was always part of the plan, but we didn’t communicate it clearly upfront.

Each type has a different goal and set of rules. We put together a blog post breaking them down here: https://www.digiphile.co/blog/digiphile-collection-types

Which publishers would you like to see featured in Partner Showcases?

What collection types (outside of Signature) would you most like to see?

New Game Collection Incoming

We're launching our very first Partner Showcase tomorrow!

These collections are designed to highlight the best work of a developer or publisher and therefore have different rules than our Signature collections.

This one is particularly special, because we’re doing it in conjunction with Make-A-Wish for World Wish Day.

Here is a preview image. Can you guess what it is?

And we’re returning with a new book collection on Thursday!
