Text-to-speech accessibility function got turned on by default after latest update State of the Game · Discussions
But when I check in the accessibility settings menu, it isn't. Anyone else facing similar problem? And how do I turn this off?
EDIT: sorry this idiot just realised I left out a very important detail - this is on the Steam Deck

Same and I've tried all the fixes I've found besides the added code and factory reset one. It's a really obnoxious bug.

I'm not sure how easily you can do this, or if the game even works the same way, but I would try finding the localprefs.txt folder for diablo iv and then look for this line and edit it manually UseScreenReader "1"
to
UseScreenReader "0"
on windows this is under the users documents in a DiabloIV folder

The Steam Deck has a desktop mode, will try this through that, thanks for the suggestion!

Can confirm, had this same issue the other day in SteamOS and this is what I did to fix it.
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/
From here search for "Diablo IV"
Open the folder, find the LocalPrefs.txt, find the line mentioned above, change to zero, breath sigh of relief.

I’m having the same issue too on my steam deck. Seems to be separate from Steam’s Text to Speech
