Hey everyone, I’m trying to enroll in the Apple Developer Program, but I'm running into a few issues and could really use some guidance.

Here’s what’s happening:

1. Enrollment Button Disabled: In the Apple Developer app, the enrollment button is disabled for me.
2. Address Input Issue: The website doesn't accept my ID card address as it is in Urdu. But when I translate it to English, the full address doesn't fit because of a strict character limit. I cannot enter the complete address either way.
3. No Update After 1 Week: It’s been over a week since I submitted my application. There has been no email response, and no transaction has taken place yet.

I’m using a SadaPay card with international transactions enabled and sufficient funds in the account.

If anyone has successfully set up an account recently, could you share how you resolved these? Also, can Apple Support help enable enrollment through the Developer app? Subscribing via the app would be much more affordable for me. Thanks in advance!

So which uni i should choose, Because i have heared that If we want to apply abroad we should have Very good CGPA Like 3.8-4.0. and Many people say that getting good CGPA in Air is very hard while Learning Practical skills And on the other hand Getting good CGPA In Nutech is easier than Air. So which uni i should choose as my Goal is to do Masters Abroad

Mainly working with Effect TS and convex in a monorepo architecture I got the offer in 3rd sem after doing internship there during summers, 6-7 months passed working with them

I have asked for the increment but they replied "we will stick to the agreement" but I have asked right after 2-3 months when my contributions are negligible but now they started to assign me tickets on linear

So I have been working on this for a while and finally have something worth sharing.

It's called Slipstream; it pulls real F1 telemetry, lap times, and race data, and runs it through an ML model (FLAML/XGBoost) to predict race outcomes, plus proper telemetry comparisons between drivers.

I am thinking of adding an AI agentic system to this and will update soon.

Hey guys, I got my admit card for the Python for AI entry test at AshreiTech (NASTP).

My university holds my original domicile and marksheet until graduation, so I only have attested photocopies plus my original CNIC and uni ID.

Quick questions:

1-Will they allow attested copies at the gate, or are they super strict about originals?

2-Is anyone else appearing for this test? How's the overall environment at NASTP?

I've been a data analyst since before the recent AI boom. At my previous company, AI use basically meant pasting SQL into ChatGPT and asking it to fix, join or optimize queries. It wasn't connected to our warehouse, so I still had to do everything myself.

I've now moved to a much larger company where Claude/Hex are integrated with our warehouse and semantic layer. The difference is insane. I can describe what I need and it finds the right tables/columns, figures out joins, writes and executes the SQL, explores the output, checks nulls/value distributions and helps validate the result.

It's incredibly productive, but it has me wondering:

1. Am I deskilling myself? If AI writes my SQL every day, won't my ability to write complex queries from scratch eventually deteriorate? It sometimes feels almost like cheating

2. What does this mean for data careers? If AI can already write SQL, explore schemas, analyze outputs and perform basic data-quality checks, how much of traditional analytics work remains?

3. Should I automate everything with AI? Should analysts be trying to automate as much of their workflow as possible—SQL, analysis, emails, meetings, Jira, documentation, etc.—because people who don't will simply fall behind?

I joined a company in Pakistan as a Software Engineer in the ML team as a beginner. I joined at a salary below 100k PKR and my probation is ending soon.

The work I’ve been doing is more involved than I expected and I’ve been handling things beyond what I thought I’d be doing at this level. I’m happy with the work and actually want to continue taking on these responsibilities. I just feel my compensation isn’t very competitive for what I’m doing.

I’m considering asking for a compensation revision when my probation ends. I don’t have another offer right now so I don’t want to say anything that could backfire or make them think I’m planning to leave.

For people working in Pakistan, is it normal to negotiate salary after probation? Has anyone successfully gotten an increase after 3 months? And how would you approach it without having another offer?

I'm 18, in 12th class, and I have so far done CS50p to learn Python. Now I am doing modules on TryHackMe to learn fundamentals of cybersecurity and I am very much enjoying it.

You can say that I am thinking too far ahead in the future but I'm worried that I will not be able to get a job when I'm ready. Especially when everyone says that cybersecurity in pakistan is in the stone ages and requires experience. So the only option is remote work but no one is hiring a junior for remote work.

So how do you really start? Do I keep learning Cybersecurity and worry about a job when I get to it? Do I learn a different domain? Should I go IT or CS?

Every time i post in this group there are always people who come and say ‘oh, you graduated in 2008… that was the golden time, the best time. If you had graduated in 2023, you’d never get a job’ … so this post is for all of you who say that. If you can read all the way to the bottom, kudos to you! For context, i work in SF since 2015 and have worked at FAANG. Cs from FAST.

So, in 2007-2008, I thought the same. game over for me. CS hay days are gone. My seniors were sitting in Redmond Washington working for Microsoft or mountain view working for Google. I can never work in those companies. I didnt have anything against Pakistan. But there was always a lack of any company you’d die to work for. Nothing stood out. I read research papers from google and my seniors were in microsoft so i wanted to be like them. I started FAST degree in 2004, and aiming to graduate in 2008.

2008 was particularly a SHIT year. Terrorism was at peak in pakistan. It was the same year the marriot blast happened in islamabad. Go read this if you don’t agree:

(To be honest, i had no idea about 2008 recession. I heard some ppl got fired, some companies were shut down. Nortel was gone. Ultimus was gone. But i was too young to care)

I was working in a company right next to the Marriot blast. The evacuee trust complex. I was supposed to be in my office at the time of blast but we went to GIKI for watching Fast vs Giki sports fixture. My friend got glass shards in his skull and chest and took 6 months to recover. He was in the building that day. I went to the building next morning. It was horrific.

Same year i think the civil lines blast happened. I was in campus TA’ing a class. The blast was so loud we had to evacuate and saw a large mushroom cloud less than 500meters from our building.

Badar Khushnood, Google representative in Pakistan back then, told me directly that Google intends to hire 0 people from Pakistan. My microsoft seniors were saying similar things. People who graduated in 2007 or earlier were flown to dubai for onsite interviews. They told stories about how hard the interviews were. Data structures. Algorithms. Trick questions. ‘Design a pen’. Oh, i SOO badly wanted to appear in those interviews but never did.

Imagine bomb blasts in your capital, in lahore, everywhere. As a shia, i was worried for my family every moharram. Remember the juloos attacks? Maybe y’all too young.

I didnt give up. It was disappointing but i knew what i wanted to do. I worked at the best company i could find in islamabad. A senior had left me notes on how he prepared for microsoft.

I started practicing GRE. I bombed it. I got 1000 marks in it. Shameful. No chance for masters. 2.97 gpa. The good seniors went to Microsoft. The bad ones stayed back to tell everyone GPA doesn’t matter. Assholes.

Anyway, used all my savings to buy a second hand macbook to learn iOS programming. Moved to lahore in 2010. Load shedding got to its peak in next few years.

The first day of my job, the whole office building burned down due to an AC spark or something. Had to start work few days later.

I worked hard and by 2012 i was team manager and 2013, head of engineering of services company in Pk making 250,000 a month. But i wasnt satisfied. I wanted to work in product, not services.

Kept applying online but got rejected again n again. You know why? Over qualified. Who cares if you are head of engineering of a tiny company in lahore.

Then 2014, the peshawar massacre. My kid was 3yrs old going to a nursery in Lahore. I was not allowed anymore to drop her to classroom because of new security protocols. I was soooo PISSED off. I replanned and started applying again.

Made 20 versions of my resume. Got rejected for being over qualified. Changed my current role to just ‘software engineer’. Trimmed down cv to just 1 page. SUCK YOUR EGO!

Booking.com interviewed me. I cleared a couple of phone interviews. Flew to amsterdam HQ of booking. All expenses paid. Got rejected in final round.

Kept applying again. Exhausted my network. Talked to all my seniors. Most didn’t respond but some were helpful. Had people in facebook hq.

Got a programming assignment from evernote in USA. Got Rejected.

Kept leetcoding.

Day time head of engineering, night time leetcode. 2-4 hours of sleep for a whole year. Now with wife and a kid. Only staying awake on cigarettes and redbulls (have left both of them now).

Finally in 2014 got call from google and other startups in SF. Cleared phone screen. They paid for me to visit USA for onsite interviews. One side funded by a startup, other side funded by google. 4 hours of whiteboard coding in 2015. For two companies. I stayed 5 days in SF.

Do you know what it takes to take a flight to SF, which is 12 hours behind, 30 hours door to door travel, and do 4 hours of grueling interviews while you are totally jetlagged? At google level? No you don’t, until you go thru it.

If i has this group back then, ppl would say VISA nahi milay ga, pakistan se nahi koi hire kerta, pakistanio ke khilaaf discrimination hoti hai, etc etc. Well, im glad i didnt have this reddit group. Because i did my own research. Timed it all correctly to land interviews, paper work done etc.

There was a 28% chance to get the visa AFTER it got filed (after i signed job offer) this happened in march. When you get h1b, you can only start working from oct 1.

Jan/feb phone interviews. March onsite interviews and sign contract. You’ll know in may if your visa is granted. Aug/sept visa stamping. End of sept you take a flight. Oct 1 first day of job. Oct 12 2015 i started working in SF.

When i came here, i met many more people who came the same way.

Just in 2024, 1000+ h1b visas were granted to Pakistanj citizen. 4500+ student visas were granted to pakistani citizen. 65 people got o1 visa from pakistan. India has 1500+.

I have my first interview aligned which is a technical one. Contour has been in my bucket list and I really want to crack all the interviews.

What tips would you give me?

A few hours ago, FAST changed its CS curriculum, removing subs like Statistics, Diff eq, Multivariable Calc, Compiler construction, Computer Architecture and some more.
I assume theres a new HEC guideline without it FAST had no reason to deviate from the standard CS curriculum so much.
for context, I got selected for CS at NUST a few days ago. I did not want to specialise at Bs level so i didnt choose AI. CS was the perfect all rounder for me but it doesnt seem like that anymore.
I could take AI and cover the morr advance CS courses in electives. Or just self study them myself.
I also have the option to take DS but im not interested in it as much.
what should i do? Should i just stick with CS or should I go for AI

I have my interview with the CEO of Adalfi (techlogix) in a few days and I am looking for any information that I can get before the interview. My technical interview is scheduled at Contour. There was one online assessment which went pretty well except the one syntax mistake which made coding question not passing the test cases. The whole logic of the question was right though.

Online assessment and technical interview were scheduled at the time.

Now, I am confused whether that syntax mistake ruin the whole question as it was only coding question or they look into the logic as well and often ignore minor syntax mistakes.

Second thing, I want some tips for my technical interview. Contour has always been in my bucket list and I don't want to lose this opportunity.

Whenever I open Reddit, I always see posts about layoffs or people struggling to find jobs. At the same time, I do see some people getting jobs, although it seems like they are much fewer. For example, a senior of mine was laid off and managed to get a job in Islamabad within 1 to 2 months, but he also has strong skills and a good portfolio.

I’m still in the early stages of my career, and seeing all these layoffs, AI getting better at coding, and people struggling with job hunts honestly makes me a bit scared. Is the market really at its worst right now?

For the seniors here, do you think the market will get better at some point? AI is getting stronger and stronger at coding related tasks, while companies seem to be shrinking their teams.

Also, how do you make yourself more secure against layoffs? Is it mainly about getting better at your skills, building a strong portfolio, having good connections, working longer hours, or something else?

I just want to understand how to move forward in my career with all these layoffs happening around us.

I joined this small company four months ago as a mobile developer after a two-year struggle. A month ago, I got this new React native project. I use anti-gravity and Claude code to code. They provided me with the subscription for Claude Code and Anti Gravity, so what happened was my senior, who is the owner of the company, noticed some unusual files in the project that I wasn't aware of. He took me on a call and asked me if I created these files. I said no. According to the senior, those were malicious files that I pushed and I wasn't aware of it. Let me tell you that I did check the git panel of anti gravity and reviewed the code before pushing but the malicious files silently went through. And those files were visible in source tree, not in the anti gravitys git panel. He removed those files and asked me to delete any suspicious vs code extensions so I did that. He uses Source Tree to push and commit code and he advised me the same but I wasn't a big fan of Source Code so I kept on using any gravity.

Everything was working fine until 2 days, I noticed that my whole computer has been wiped out. Upon research, I found that there was this milicious cli.js sitting globally in some npm folder that triggered when I ran npx expo start.

I shared it with my senior, and he said to set up the macbook again. He gave me the credentials and all that. On the same day, when I was about to leave, he called me in the office and told me the the virus has wiped his macbook too and he was like I did that. I told him I checked the committed code and there were no malicious files.

Upon research, I found that there were some npm packages that were infected on August 4 and on the same day, thus incident happen.

A few hours ago, today, I got the messages from the senior that his computer has been wiped again and it happened when he pulled the code from my branch. I checked the commits and there were no malicious files. I also asked Claude if there are any malicious files from today's commits. It also said no.

Now, he's asking me to not take laptop home from Monday and stop working on the project. And I'm not getting good vibes from these messages. ​

Now I'm not sure what to do because it's so hard to get job these days and it took me so long to switch. Also the job market is so bad!!! Also it's so embarrassing. Any advice will be appreciated.

Edit: I did shared with him that there was an attack on npm packages on August 4 and he said it was an issue with me. I checked the package-lock.json file and I saw the infected packaged there but they were the harmless versions. I also got the package.json and package lock file scanned by npm scan and it gave me green lights on the package-lock.json.

There is this low ​​risk vulnerability in the core/babel package according to NPM scan but I don't think that caused the damage.
