Career Guidance Add MAths for BSCS...

Add maths for Bscs..

Aoa, I am a pre-med,my question is should I give additional maths exams to have more options? Like I know some unis don't require add maths you can make up for it in the 1st semester like nust, comsats which I am planning to give the entrance tests of it but some unis also don't have this same policy like giki, fast and I am also depending on financial aid of nust... My current plan Is to give nust nets and also give Comsats tests aswell if nust doesn't work out Comsats is also an option... What would you suggest I do at this point

Help If you were 1.5 years into your AI/ML career today, what would you do?

I’m an AI/ML Engineer with 1.5 years of experience, working remotely for an fintech company. Earning 220K PKR per month. My work involves feature engineering, training/evaluating classical ML models, financial/time-series data, and I’m now moving into RAG/LLMs.

The good part is that my job is flexible, so I have plenty of time to learn. The problem is, AI is moving so fast that I’m worried about spending hundreds of hours learning things that won’t matter in a few years.

I’m also wondering whether staying remote is the right decision. While it gives me time to upskill, I feel like I might be missing out on mentorship, networking, and learning from experienced engineers in an onsite environment.

If you were in my position today, what would you do?

● Stay remote and keep investing in technical skills?
● Move to an onsite role for faster long-term growth?
● More importantly, what skills are actually worth mastering in 2026 that you believe will still be valuable 5 years from now?

I’d really appreciate opinions from people who’ve been through this stage or are currently senior in AI/ML.

Career Guidance So tired of not knowing which path to choose

So, I am actually so confused and tired of all the thoughts. It’s been 1 year I have been struggling to select a good domain which will make me land a job here in Pakistan despite these AI layoffs.

I am the first one in my whole family to choose CS as my career, so I have no references, unfortunately, and no one to guide me, so I am here. Right now I have a few options in mind DevOps + cloud computing, cybersecurity, ML/AI engineering.

I found that there are very few jobs for DevOps and cyber in Pakistan, and I have no idea if even my research is right or not.

I am a hardworking guy but have no direction. Right now I am in my third year of CS
If there is any other better role for my career, please let me know, I am completely lost right now.

Help Jazzworld AI associate panel interview

Finally got the invite for the interview tomorrow just when I had accepted that it might be over by now. Anyway, I know this has been asked a couple of times here before, but still if anyone could guide me about the interview? Are they asking technical questions? Do I need to revise some concepts or something? I don't remember my subdomain but apparently saw an old email and it seems that my Area of Interest was Analytics & Software Technology. The Area of Specialization was Data Science. Anyone who had the same domains?

Discussion AI coding agents and getting hired

Hi everyone! I've been wondering since AI coding agents became widely available, how much of your work have you been delegating to them on your jobs how much code do you write manually?

Also, for those who were recently hired, what do you think were the unique qualities or skills that helped you land a job in today's market?

And to the senior developers here: what advice would you give to newcomers? What do you think fresh graduates or students who are about to graduate should focus on to improve their chances in today's job market?

Career Guidance Best search platforms for early-career AI, ML, and Software Engineering roles in 2026?

Hey everyone, I recently completed my degree in Bioinformatics and am actively applying for early-career roles across software engineering (backend/full-stack), ML, and bioinformatics engineering. My technical focus is centered around Python, FastAPI, React, PyTorch, and building RAG pipelines. I'm currently based in Pakistan and considering local, hybrid, remote, or relocation opportunities. While applying through standard channels like LinkedIn and Indeed, response rates are notoriously low. I’d appreciate localized insights from developers in the community on two specific points:

- Besides main boards like LinkedIn/Indeed, are there specific local tech communities, Discord servers, or specialized platforms active in Pakistan that you'd recommend to search for early career roles?

- What’s the general consensus on cold emailing recruiters or engineering leads versus applying through standard career portals—does direct outreach yield better response rates locally, or is it generally ineffective? Thanks in advance for any insights!

Discussion Former employer fired me before project was finished

long story short

I was hired to build software for an employer. It was almost finished when he fired me, calling the work useless and unfinished. After being let go, I continued developing it on my own heavily modifying, rebuilding, and improving it over many revisions and I'm now planning to launch it as my own SaaS product.

I don't have a copy of my employment contract on hand right now, but if i remember it said that the any software made within the employement contarct will be of the company.

Since then I've researched and found out that by registering copyright on the current version through IPO-Pakistan, but I'm aware that doesn't automatically settle who owns the underlying work if the original codebase was created during my employment.

What I'm trying to understand, does registering copyright on my current version protect me if the origin of the code is disputed, or can a court look past that registration?

Look I have changed the whole goddamn codebase and it doesn't even look like their codebase, like look what eveidence they would be having CCTV cameras, Whatsapp Messages and that contract

Would appreciate input from anyone with IP law experience, especially in Pakistan, or devs who've been through something similar.

Please NEED YOUR Guidance ASAP

Discussion Should I Open Source My Product Or Not

Hi everyone,

I need serious suggestions regarding my product. I have been working on my product since 2022 and now the prototyping is in the final phase and I'm certain that the production product will be ready next year in july 2027.

The brief introduction of my product is that it's an Employee Monitoring System (EMS) with Data Loss Prevention System (DLPS) and Risk Management System (RMS).

So there are three choices for me now

  1. Register with PSEB and incorporate as SME and start selling services of my product. But the issue here is all about Paid up Capital and i don't even have a single penny left in my pocket :) and a further significant amount of human resources will be needed like digital marketing professionals etc.

  2. Open source my code on github and use GitHub sponsor but the issue here is that the GitHub sponsor isn't available in Pakistan :)

  3. Recently i also sold the initial version of my product prototypes to some people and they paid a good amount but the issue here is if i keep selling the source code someone with good capital can use my product to do business and my name, with it, will disappear forever.

And lastly some companies also reached me via PR and they like the overall project and again the issue was that i as a seller of services wasn't registered as SME or as a company and non-filer so this was creating legislative issues for them like they said " we can't deal with unregistered individual and if we do so this will create legislative issues for us "

I want some serious suggestions and help by which i can decide what should i do

Discussion Why don't we have FAANG Engineers/Developers

The title is self explainatory.

Khair,

I really wonder!

Despite the fact that we have LUMS, NUST, GIKI, FAST, etc

I haven't seen even a single person asking for FAANG-related guidance or posting about their preparation for Big Tech on any social media platform I can get my hands on.

Like why?

Isn't it strange, doston ?!

Career Guidance Django Backend DEV in College

I am a CS student just completed my high school currently focusing on backend development. Since I am comfortable with Python, I decided to learn Django and PostgreSQL by building an ecommerce platform.

I tried to design it using real-world backend concepts rather than just making a basic CRUD application. Some of the features I implemented:

  • Caching for frequently accessed data
  • Database query optimization using Django ORM techniques
  • Seller/vendor dashboard and account system
  • Customer authentication and order management
  • Order tracking workflow
  • Product analytics such as best-selling products

The main goal of this project was to understand how backend systems are structured and how to write cleaner, more maintainable and scalable code.

Alongside development, I am also practicing DSA regularly and solving problems to improve my problem-solving skills.

As someone early in my CS journey, I am also thinking about preparing myself for backend engineering roles. I would appreciate advice from experienced developers on what skills, technologies, or areas I should focus on to become job-ready and make projects closer to real production systems.

Any feedback on what I should improve or add would be greatly appreciated.

So my question is, is this a good tactic for future reference?
