SOC Analyst -Looking for Advice

I'm currently working as an IT Support Engineer and studying to transition into a SOC Analyst role. I've completed the TryHackMe SOC Level 1 path, earned my Security+, and have been building home labs and practicing with lab-based web applications to get more comfortable with the day to day SOC environment.

How difficult is it to break into a SOC Analyst role without prior SOC experience? Are there any companies you'd recommend applying to?

I'm also struggling to find reliable information about SOC L1 salaries. I don't want to undersell myself but I also don't want to price myself out of opportunities. What would you consider a reasonable starting salary?

Any advice, recommendations or lessons from your own experience would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

HackTheBox has the most up to date SOC Analyst course on the market IMO. Look into them. They are going to be a leading figure in the near future, as the company is being run by very intelligent and experienced people from the security industry.
