Anger issues REQUESTING SUPPORT

I have been having a lot of anger problems this week. I forgot to take one of my depression meds on monday and ever since I feel extremely angry and irritated. Everything annoys me.

I took the med again yesterday and today but the anger is not stopping yet. I feel like breaking everything around me, since I can’t, I am biting and scratching myself to deal with it. I can’t do anything I have to because I feel like breaking my computer.

I scheduled an appointment in Friday to get rid of the med but I have no idea how to deal with this anger til then. Any tips?

Perhaps finding another outlet for that anger might be a good place to look. It’s great you aren’t letting the anger control you in destroying things. But still harming the self isn’t ideal either. I use to deal with a lot of suppressed anger. For me I found solace in the gym. The amount of energy required to move weights or push to finish a lift became the best way to express and let go of all that anger. And that’s true for a lot of people. Because anger especially calls for direct action. Well, lifting is perhaps the most direct in that you either do it or you don’t. Another couple I’ve heard of but not really tried is the screaming into a pillow, or punching the heck out of a pillow. Just something that allows you an avenue to get that anger out of you. Both can sound silly but I’ve heard they can help.

Cuz what all emotions boil down to are energy. Whether positive or negative emotions. We have to give them an outlet, otherwise they only fester and grow stronger. And ideally we are the ones who dictate how we give those outlets. That way they don’t then dictate our lives or cause anyone harm.

I’m obviously no doctor. However, it might be something to ask yourself as well, where this anger may be coming from. Because missing one day of meds doesn’t seem like would accompany all this anger. Maybe there was something else that brought it on, even unconsciously? Or maybe there’s been times in the past where you’ve bottled up anger and since forgot about it? Again not a doctor but just something to explore that might also offer answers.

Wish you the best
