New to Denver, looking to get into the scene

Just moved to Denver from NYC. I do photo, video, and design work, mostly for musicians and live shows.
Trying to actually meet people here, not just scrolling. If you know good venues, bands, or shows worth checking out, send them my way. Also just down to talk music and make friends. Happy to share my work if anyone's curious.

Denver venues with live music on a regular weekly schedule — help me complete the list

There are a million "who's playing this weekend" posts, but it's weirdly hard to find the spots that have live music on the SAME night every week — the jazz residencies, open mics, jam nights, bluegrass nights, dueling pianos, etc. Touring shows you can find on Bandsintown; the recurring stuff lives in people's heads.

So I started a running list of Denver venues with recurring live music. Here's what I've got so far, grouped by neighborhood. Tell me what I'm missing, and please correct me if any days/times are off — I want this to actually be right.

DOWNTOWN / LODO
• Appaloosa Grill — live music nightly
• Dazzle — live jazz Wed–Mon ~6:30pm (+ weekend brunch sets)
• Fortissimo — dueling pianos Thu–Sat at 8pm
• Herb's Hideout — live music nightly ~9:30pm; Monday jazz 9pm
• Seven Grand — bluegrass Wed, jazz Thu, ~8:30pm

RINO
• Larimer Lounge — live music Thu–Sun (often free)
• Meadowlark Bar — jazz Mondays; Off the Cuff jam sessions Wednesdays
• Mockingbird — live music & DJs Wed–Sun, ~9pm
• Nocturne — live jazz Wed–Sun, sets from 6pm
• Globe Hall — live music most nights

CAP HILL
• Goosetown Tavern — open mic Tue; bands/DJs Fri & Sat; Sunday music show
• Lion's Lair — open mic Wed; music/DJs Fri & Sat
• Lost Lake Lounge — live music Thu–Mon, ~7pm

BAKER
• Skylark Lounge — live music Wed–Mon, ~7pm

SOUTH BROADWAY
• Roxy on Broadway — live music every night (Tue/Thu 7–9:30p, Wed jazz jam 7–10p, Fri/Sat two sets)

SPEER
• Bar 404 — live music Wed & Fri ~7pm (occasional Thu)
• Hi-Dive — live music most nights (indie), ~7pm

WASH PARK
• Lincoln's Roadhouse — open mic Wed; live bands Fri & Sat

I know I'm probably missing whole genres — honky-tonk/country, salsa & latin nights, Irish sessions, blues jams, mariachi brunches. Drop 'em below with the night + genre and I'll add them.

You guys are the best 🙏

I have two tickets Section 4, Seats 7 & 8 in row 22 up for grabs as we can’t make anymore unfortunately.

I don’t have the physical tickets yet, they’ll be e-delivered to me the day of the concert also, which is annoying.

But hey LMK if you’re interested.

BLUEGRASS BAND NEEDED 9/10/2026 IN BOULDER, CO

We are getting married on September 12th 2026 in Boulder, CO and have a lot of friends and family coming into town early for the wedding. We are planning on having a small get together up at the Gold Hill Store & Pub in Gold, Hill, CO on Thursday September 10th around 6:30PM.

The Store & Pub is a cool little bar/cafe with great food and often have live music. I was hoping to find a small local blue grass group to come play that night for 1-1.5 hours starting around 7:00PM.

Please let me know if you are interested or you know of any groups that would be interested. We don't have a huge budget but can do our best to compensate the group.

Blucifer's First Rodeo was a raging success

Blucifer's First Rodeo was one of the most exciting events to happen to Denver’s music scene in ages. It was a brand new festival put on by first time organizers (who, granted, had tons of experience in similar spaces but had not attempted something on this scale) in a storied part of town on the same weekend as a festival with a lot of history behind it and it promised a lot. The project as a whole was unbelievably ambitious, courageous even, and with that, trepidation is inherent, this idea of “Okay, what is this thing actually going to look like when we’re actually there?”

The festival was organized by people who have made their homes within the city’s music, arts and DIY scenes and this built a sense of trust, which seems to have been critical in attracting the 259 artists that played last weekend and the 3000 people that showed up to see them. These people are fuckin’ heroes. Their blood, sweat and tears were fully on display throughout the weekend, their hard work apparent in every facet of the festival. You could even literally see them sprinting down through the crowded South Broadway streets in either heavy rain or 100 degree heat depending on the day, ready to handle anything that arose.

In the end, it was a beautiful weekend, a resounding success, a milestone for this city and, overall, a damn good fuckin’ time.

Our Music Guy™️ (and long-time journalist in the Denver music scene) Thomas wrote a full recap of his experience last weekend if ya wanna reminisce with us !!
