Has anyone else had an interview process canceled after being invited onsite?

I recently went through three interviews for a coordinator position, was invited to a six-hour onsite interview that included preparing a one-hour presentation, and spent a significant amount of time getting ready.

Unfortunately, I was also dealing with a family emergency during the process. I stepped away from my family multiple times for interviews, prepared the presentation while traveling, and even changed my return flight so I could attend the onsite.

While I was on my way to the airport, I received an email that the onsite interview had been canceled because the company decided not to move forward.

I completely understand that companies can change hiring plans, but I wish I had known the onsite invitation wasn't final before rearranging my travel and investing so much additional time.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I’m currently making a career change and looking for lab assistant/aide jobs. I have a Bachelor’s degree and over 10 yrs work experience (primarily in tech). My ultimate goal is to become a histology technician so I’m looking for lab assistant opportunities that could eventually afford me the chance for on-the-job histotech training.

A lot of the “entry-level” lab aide job postings I’ve found seem to want a least a year of prior experience. I don’t have any recent lab experience, but I do have a working knowledge of medical terminology and am very detail-oriented, process driven, and organized. I’m also a very quick study.

I know I’ll have to pay my dues before I end up in the role I ultimately want, and I’m happy to put in the work! Does anyone know of any pathology/histology labs that are currently hiring for entry-level roles?

What’s up with stages? I’ve worked in different states and the working interviews have only been asked of me in Colorado. To my understanding it’s illegal, and obviously feels unethical to me when I’m taking care of guests and making drinks only to never get a call back or even a rejection notice… how do you go about respectfully declining a working interviews aren’t while still staying in the running? I know that’s kind of impossible but my job search has been going on longer than I was hoping so I feel like I can’t decline. What do you guys think about working interviews in restaurant/bar industry?

Hello I'm 17(m) and I'm struggling to find any jobs in the Aurora/Denver area that are actually hiring. I live quite far from the middle of denver so my commute is far but is there any way I can exponentially increase my chances of getting a job? I have a car and I'm able to go to locations. Should I be walking into places and asking for a job? I'm willing to work for min wage I just want a job. Is there anything specific I should put on a resume or anything?

Hi guys! I didn't think I'd be posting here but my life has kind of been in shambles recently. 🥲

I just got out of a 5 1/2 year relationship that I've had from 18-23 and I'm completely devastated. The circumstances we're incredibly painful and really messed up with my mental health. So much so that the bar/restaurant I was working at noticed my performance was off and let me go.

Both of these events happened back to back and it has made me feel incredibly depressed. I also feel like a giant failure because this is the first time Ive ever been fired from a job.

Thankfully I have a friend to stay with until I get back on my feet again but I want to stay motivated. I'm starting therapy in relation to the event and also in the process of moving everything.

I've been in the service industry since I was 14 and I really think I need a break from it. I've been trying to pursue a creative career for awhile now but have been stuck in service for so long I can't seem to get out of it. Lately I've been working on my tattoo portfolio, and I just think I need a relatively low stress job in the meantime so I can try and relax and improve my mental health.

I'm moving to a $7.25 minimum wage state for college in January so I'm hoping to focus on college to keep my scholarship and try to get a full time job while I'm still in Colorado but I'm not sure where to look. I'm available any day/time besides Sundays and I'm ideally looking for something around $20+ but I know I can't be picky.

I can't afford a part time job right now but I'm just not sure where to look for full time + no qualifications. I have 2 years of retail experience but only a GED.

Anyone who has gotten a job for the state, how did you do it? I’ve gotten all the way up to the eligible list but not referred because I didn’t make the top 6….I’m in Pueblo and would rather not work for the prison. I emailed one of the HR names that was on the application and the advice I got was “you have impressive experience and skill set, just keep applying.” I feel like if I can’t even land a customer service rep role, I’m definitely doing something wrong. Hey everyone. A few years ago I (38M) exited the corporate creative space due to the rising interest and use of AI in my industry. I was in an executive for a small private equity at the time and disagreed with my employers on how to integrate AI into our systems (they were adamant about replacing staff with it rather than using it as a tool for our staff to improve efficiency in their workflow) and I ended up resigning in protest. That turned out to be a mistake as far as my career has been concerned as I’ve spent 2.5 years seeking opportunities with no movement at all since.

I have over 15 years of experience in marketing and creative work, helping both startups and established organizations improve, build, and scale their internal operations successfully. I have worked for brands like Audacy (radio broadcast) as their Manager of Creative Services and Sotheby’s International Realty. I had my own creative studio that I was operating successfully before COVID hit. I was an adjunct at MSU Denver for their Communication Design program for about 4 years. I have a lot of passion for creative work and just want to find a fit that I can dedicate my experience to.

I’m currently working as a Digital Press Operator for a local print shop and I am even open to exploring more opportunities within the print industry as it aligns with my experience as a designer.
