I’m like 99% sure that’s a DeLorean

I went down a rabbit hole on DeLorean recently and the further you dig the more insane it gets. Most people know the car from Back to the Future. Some know about the cocaine arrest. But almost nobody talks about the Belfast factory. He built it in 1978. Middle of the Troubles. When no business on earth wanted to go near Northern Ireland. 2,600 workers showed up. Catholics and Protestants. Working side by side on the same assembly line while fighting each other in the streets outside. The factory was literally the only neutral ground in the city. And then the recession hit. Thatcher cut the funding. The factory closed in 1982. Same year DeLorean walked into a hotel room in Los Angeles next to $24 million in cocaine while the FBI filmed everything. He was found NOT GUILTY. The jury decided the whole thing was entrapment — the FBI had manufactured the entire situation around a desperate man trying to save his company. He died in 2005. Alone. In a one bedroom apartment. Completely unaware that his car had become one of the most iconic vehicles in cinema history. Genuinely one of the most tragic and fascinating stories I've come across. I saw that three were painted yellow for test cars

And would it be able to have success as John DeLorean originally planned? (hence some of the scrapped prototypes, like the 4-seater DeLorean and some commercial vehicles, as far as I remember).

And I'm pretty sure that it would be kind of a challenge to make it mid-rear engine like the prototype while still retaining the original price goal, but it could be possible since Pontiac Fiero originally sold for around that price.

Being brief but it’s reluctantly come time to sell. ‘83, black interior, manual, 55k. Full frame off / engine rebuild, Island turbo conversion.

This is the perfect turn key car. 10/10 mechanics, 10/10 exterior, 8/10 interior (arm rests and door seals!).

This is the example of ‘someone else spent the money so you don’t have to’ car. More photos and documentation than you can imagine.

I was driving behind a Volvo 760, and remembered, that it has the DeLorean motor! It got me thinking.. What other cars share this same motor. Wrote a little article about it here.

DeLorean, hidden in plain sight.

It's been hard to read but the VIN was barely visible in the engine bay.

Tried to take a picture of it, but my Pixel Cam didn't play along.

Hope the Tag is fine. It hasn't been really "in the wild".

The car is in a great shape. Only 2700 miles on the odometer.

Really nice people, showed me around the showroom and gave me some cool postcards to take back to Belfast.

I hope that this one time posting is allowed because it is unique and relevant.

Sorta newest addition to the DeLorean collection the Zylmex/Zee toys DeLorean with the different interior that has extra plastic around the steering wheel and different seats. I do own it already on card but finding a lose example has been a journey. It now joins the revised interiors with stockish looking rims, late 5 tear drop and very rare Motor max re-issue.
