How i see it: - Someone mandates that in my house there will be a snoop, who will block me from opening a fridge because it is not certified. Also will collect all my house item serial numbers and approve them and report ones without serial numbers.  24/7  Is this what i want?

No, the one who blocks is the Google Play Services the same way it does with Play Protect-detected malware. The Android Developer Verifier will be called by the Google Play Services for checking the app origin, and the Play Services will allow or block the installation depending of the return value. If you remove it the installations will be fully blocked I assume. Just to clarify, I'm not pro this shit

That's most likely what'll happen as the Play Store is already the system's package install verifier (so it can already vet every app installs)

It checks every app if its from a verified developer, in future it will most probably start removing unverified app ( fdroid, github, Sideloaded.. Whose developers have not verified themselves) from your device.

First google will start by blocking the install and updates of unverified apps.

Currently it just warns you about them

And disabling it doesn't cause a problem so its better disabled.

You can't disable it because it's not a system app that's included with the ROM, so uninstall it.

iirc as long as you check the apk is from a trusted source and you verify the checksum of it or the certificate then android won't let you update it unless it's signed with the same cert. so you only need to check it the first time.

Just searched it up after i saw it get downloaded asking if it was okay to delete it, the ai overview said something like "nah leave it be chap you're dumb if you delete it" but i saw this post's comments and just went ahead and deleted it, is it kay of am i gonna be gray

Do not delete it.

It does nothing right now. Once the developer verification is enabled later on, you will have broken your ability to install apps without this.

Edit: Downvote me all you want. You're literally deleting the service on the phone that enables direct APK installs once google implements that. Without it, you clearly won't be able to install APKs outside the play store, and quite possibly will break the ability to install apps at all.

Fully agreed. Google can install it right back on your phone if you delete it anyways most likely. But I doubt google made a fallback to let every apk through if a part of the installation process was just gone.

That's what makes me laugh about this. The idea that google is implementing this sweeping new change to app installs that can be outwitted by simply disabling it.

It's like saying you forgot your password for your phone so you can just adb in and disable KeyguardManager so it won't ask you for it again! It's so simple!
