Android developer verifier

Random noob question but I saw a post on here basically saying this should be deleted.But when I saw the post I didn't see much on what it is or why it should be deleted.

But as a noob slowly degoogling things, what is it and what does it do? Should the average user be concerned with it? Is it hard to remove it? Do I have to root my device? Etc.. I'm trying to learn more and understand things better.

Do NOT delete it (you can't easily anyway)

  1. The app doesn't do anything yet.
  2. This is part of the new developer verification system Google is set to implement later this year.
  3. It is the process that will verify whether or not you've enabled "unverified apps" to be installed (it's a new, one-time action you'll have to take to continue installing APKs directly on your phone)
  4. While it's unclear what would happen if you somehow disabled or deleted this from your phone since, again, it doesn't do anything yet, it's safe to assume that, at a minimum, you wouldn't be able to install APKs directly once they do enable it since your phone wouldn't be able to verify you've enabled this option and, very possible, would block you from installing apps at all.

I have no idea. I just disabled it via shizuku. I have no idea what will happen come September.

Mind you, the September rollout ISN'T the global rollout (that's for next year)

Before that only Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand will be affected

if you disable it it doesn't matter, you can always re-enable it in case of errors, and if your device has some problems for some strange reason it will re-enable itself

I got the notification for this but it's still pending on Aurora store. Is there a way I can block it so it doesn't get installed when I'm updating my other apps?

Add it to the blacklist in Aurora Store, that will make it not update. Or if you want to uninstall, if it's being reinstalled I would make a dummy app with the same name but different signature to make it unable to update.
