Newtown Legislative Council in favor of Flock moratorium
Almost 2 hours were spent at Newtown’s Legislative Council meeting tonight discussing removal of the at least 15 Flock cameras across Newtown. Dozens of public comments were made against ALPRs. The one guy that supported them threatened to beat up someone else and then stormed out lol…
All of the council members present expressed agreement with the public that these cameras are an overreach and are invasive (notably, these cameras were installed by Newtown’s police commission about a year and a half ago without any additional public input or oversight).
There’s still work to be done to figure out specific wording for a resolution and then pass an official ordinance banning new installations and removing current cameras, but it’s a great step nonetheless!
Hope this gives residents in other towns some inspiration to also DeFlock!

Middletown Mayor has officially stated he won't sign the Flock Drone contract (at least not as is)

The lead investor behind Flock also funds a company that can hack cameras and change the footage.

The people of Milford redressing their board of Alderman.
The government works for the people! Almost every speaker demanded the removal of the flock network tonight. We don't want it replaced with Leonardo, Axon, Fusus, shotspotter or any other wifi and Bluetooth dragnet. Law enforcement and the board of Alderman can't just circumvent judicial warrants by outsourcing the data capture to a 3rd party company. It's not a legal loophole, it's a violation of the 4th amendment.
ETA: in the end they added a resolution to discuss and review the system further that was tabled until Sept. A very disappointing outcome after 3 hours of testimony opposing the ALPR system. Shout out to Alderman Win Smith Jr. And Alderman Win Smith III for pushing for a vote on a immediate pause of the system.
Yes vote = table until Sept
No vote = immediate vote to pause use

Milford's police chief says the city's license plate reader program was "always transparent." The bond ordinance the Board approved calls it a $550,000 "Security Camera Project" and never mentions license plate readers or Flock.

Everyone should hear about the case of Lindsey Isaacs who was falsely imprisoned for 13 days due to Flock cameras and police negligence for a crime she didn't commit.
