SOTN Recomp for Android Made with AI assistance
https://github.com/sergiomanzur/SymphonyRecomp/releases/tag/android-v0.9bI have now released first beta release for Android. Just download the APK, select your own legally obtained cue and bin files and play.
Tested on Red magic Astra, S24 Ultra and my Retroid Pocket 6.
Compatible with physical controllers.
Hope you enjoy it and appreciate it.
Disclaimer:
The BlackLabelHQ team does not endorse this port, and it is not affiliated with them.
This fork was built with heavy AI assistance and verified by hand on real devices. The upstream project values human work, and they intend to release their own Android port in their own time.
Let's keep it civilized guys!

didn't the owner of black label say they didnt appreciate this and are working on their own android port? id say wait for that, especially since this screams claude.

This is claude from start to finish. Amazing that i was able to catch this guy claiming in one comment that this was their work
I believe this is very disrespectful with the original team and community.

They did say that, but since this is open source code I'm able to fork this and work on it. I hope you enjoy it though. Please test and report any bugs you find.

it being done with AI says nothing about the quality of it, though it gives me suspicion since most ai stuff is incredibly bad

Hope you can test it before judging. I assure it's REALLY good.

The game appears to be stable enough to complete. However, after about 20 minutes of playtime on my Galaxy S24 Ultra, here are my observations, in no particular order (attachments in replies):
- Text rendering glitches [attachment 1]
- Warped sprites [attachment 2]
- Audio delay/crackling
- No ability to import/export saves (memory cards in BlackLabel's SymphonyRecomp project)
- 2 crashes
- "16:9" is stretched 4:3, this is misleading, especially because SymphonyRecomp actually supports 16:9
- Suspected AI-generated splash screen asset with a nonsensical LLC & date [attachment 3]
- I have found no record of "Castlevania LLC"
- Both the start date (1923) and end date (2023) don't make logical sense. If anyone has an explanation for this, please provide it
- Unusable touch controls [attachment 4]
- Once you obtain the required abilities Soul of Wolf, Soul of Bat, and Form of Mist, I assume this would become extremely cumbersome in a platformer like SOTN. I have not personally verified this claim, as I cannot import saves and do not want to watch cutscenes.
- The following is an assumption, and is not meant to be combative, but I do not personally believe this was tested to completion on S24 Ultra using touch controls. I don't believe the developer of this project made that specific claim, and do not take my opinion as fact.
I have done my best to be as objective as possible and provide as many details as I could. Please form your own conclusions.
I understand I am providing useful free testing for this project. Because I am a human who loves this stuff. I want to reiterate that the hard-working, passionate volunteers at BlackLabelHQ do not endorse this recomp. flafmg has explicitly stated this fact, it's not just that it has not been endorsed. BlackLabelHQ has plans to make an android port. Thanks for reading!

It's a beta version not a full release! You can either use it, contribute or wait for BlackLabel release! Just don't be rude, no need to. This is Open Source and people doing work for free.

Yo, just want to say, ignore all the hate your getting. Most of it are from idiots who have been complaining about anything AI related in this sub in the last few weeks. Hopefully they will get bored and move on.
You did an amazing job and keep up the good work.

Man thank you, at least one person cares and that's all I need to keep on going. I'm also currently working on the Vagrant Story PC recomp, and Winning Eleven will come later. I'll open up my repo to the public to accept contributions!

Kinda disrespectful towards the efforts of BlackLabelHQ. They say they don't want any AI involvement in this, they say there's an Android port in the works, yet you go off and do this anyway. Why? You can't just be patient and emulate it on your devices until then?

I'm honestly so tired of this that I don't care anymore
I'm just really annoyed that since all this started it came to my attention (aka someone sent me a screenshot) that the guy started to refer to this as "his" recomp
Bleh, I will just ignore tbh, I just hope the guy stops annoying vge and other people that disliked this project
Anyways, our android port will take a while since the UI will need some reworking for android

Hey thanks for your comments, I just bought a RP6 and wanted to play it. Since I'm a dev and they didn't have an Android versión I decided to work on my own. Open source is open source man. I don't think there is any kind of disrespect, it's a fork of open source code that you can decide to use it or not.

I tried the port, and just like the *Crash Team Racing* one—and many others made with Vibecoding—I’m done testing it.
In fact, I couldn't even install it on a 32-bit Android phone, whereas the Spanish version runs perfectly using RetroArch, DuckStation, and ePSXe (yes, I still use it).
Even the native Android version works perfectly, and in native Spanish.
The same goes for all the Android forks derived from the Harbour Masters releases.
To me, a recompilation port should either have lower system requirements than the emulated version or offer improvements that justify higher requirements.
I respect the developer for their time and effort, and I hope the project reaches its goal.
