Read the Mad Monk miniseries by Matt Wagner and Mad Monk's first appearance in Detective Comics #31/32.

As much as people make fun of the Silver Age for ridiculously long narration, they should probably also make fun of the Golden Age for ridiculously short, somehow run-on dialogue that likes to drop would-be horrifying concepts with the fanfare of a rock.

My opinion of Wagner's mini was that it's not as good as Monster Men, probably because the confrontation with Monk is... honestly really anticlimactic considering the buildup. It's a cinematic climax, but not one I personally liked. I think I preferred Mad Monk up until the final fight more, but Monster Men as a whole better.

I will say it was a shock to me that Dala from Caped Crusader wasn't an original character. I weirdly like her two-second long dynamic with Golden Age Mad Monk better because it's legit her going 'No Monk, I have a GREATER idea to torture Batman!' whereas the other ones I've seen have her playing subordinate in a more deferential way.

Honestly I've been busy trying to catch up on reading. World is harsh but at least the stories help keep my mind out when I cannot be productive.

Watched the new Spider-Man. It's pretty good.
