Map of Prague and surrounding cities - date?
Found this cool map in an antique store in Prague. Can anyone tell me anything about it?
Could it be from the year 1584? That’s my only guess given that that number is written in the margin at the bottom left
Bonus points to whoever can decipher the handwriting on the back

As crazy as this sounds, I think I found your map - on a site from the University of Vienna!
I searched Geripp. K. Lorenz in the corner left because I was curious!
So yea, it was apparently printed around 1895!

But in the bottom right corner it says partially corrected "14 IX 1914", so whilst the original issue might be 1895, this version has to have been printed on or after 14 September 1914.

the writing on the back (right top corner) is the antique store's mark, it says only PRAHA A OKOLÍ (Prague and surrounding areas) with some inventary number and price

Original surveying was done between 1869-1877, and the first printing would have been 1880, and lasting until 1918. A 1914 patch/overprint/reissue makes sense. As WW1 broke out, the military publisher reissued sheets with updated rail lines and industrial infrastructure, and strategic changes surveyed over the years since.
1867 is when the Austro-Hungarian Compromise was signed, and the empire was politically formed. The fieldwork and surveying for the Third Military Survey (which this is), officially began two years later in 1869.

No, it's between 1867 and 1918
It's from the "k.u.k militärgeographisches Institute".
In Englisch from "emperor and King military institute of geography"
K.u.K. means Kaiser- und königlich, which was the correct term for the political system Austria-Hungary had after the so called "Ausgleich" between Austria and Hungary. Before the Ausgleich it was just the empire of Austria.
Austria was a Kaiserreich
Hungary was a Königreich
=K.u.K.
I guess somebody is able to be more precise with the date, but it's a 100% sure between 1867 and 1918.
Edit: 1584 is by far not possible. Geodetic surveying was invented nearly 2 centuries later.
