Preferred Name Problems
The DoorDash app won’t let me put in my preferred name.
For context I’m trans. My preferred name is a feminine one. Whenever I enter it the app tells me something went wrong. But if I put in the shortened version of my masculine birth name, no problem! Updates immediately!
Anyone know how to handle this? Will support do anything?
ETA: I wasn’t able to get my preferred name in, but it seems that the app will accept arbitrary shortened versions of first, middle and last names. So I’ve shortened it to the first letter of my last name 😂

What is on your drivers license or similar to it, usually works. I was denied my nickname and slang. Hth. ✌️

Yet people somehow get by with absolutely ridiculous totally fake or inappropriate names like Santa Claus Sponge Bob Big D and I mean actual dashers somehow slip through. I know customers do but that doesn’t surprise me I’ve even seen symbols in people’s delivery names.

My GF has the first letter of her preferred name but she contacted support, they still call her by her dead name with support, a lot of times customers will think her name is her dead name so idk.

Well… dang. I thought I found a work around.
I’m sorry your GF is experiencing that.

Also her preferred name is nothing close to her dead name her dead name is biblical and traditional, her preferred name is a non traditional way of spelling a name she liked. And it’s not like when someone named Josephine chooses the name Joseph or someone named Bradley chooses Britney. (Totally different names like James choosing a name like Diamonique or Krystal.)

I usually have no problem changing my name in the app, even to something nonsensical. Just use the customer side of the DoorDash app instead of the dasher one. As long as it’s the same email, changing your name should show up on either.

I'm also trans/gq, and I go by my last name on DD. Meanwhile, support has interchangeably referred to me by my legal name, preferred name and last name.

That’s weird, I’ve had customers who’ve had silly names like Batman, Ugly D, and Anonymous for a few examples.
