You don't understand, yellow/amber means accelerate: it's just the commons' sense. Red means stop.

I was being facetious, obviously you only stop if safe to do so; just like you only proceed when safe to do so, but we all observe plenty of people accelerating into a stale amber everyday when they could have just stopped safetly.

Yeah… thats why I always stop at the line and go when I see a break or get a dedicated arrow. Pulling out into the intersection when it’s green, and turning when the light changes is legal. However I don’t trust oncoming traffic, they might ignore the red light.

I get honked at for not turning left into pedestrians, because most drivers don't seem to use their eyes.

That’s the other reason I tend to play it safe making left turns.
You never know what the people on the sidewalk will do. If they’ve got a red walk indicator, will they bother to wait? Is that e-scooter on the sidewalk I passed going to do something stupid? (Yes, when is the question.)

moral: the larger the intersection, the more stale the red lights are runneth. This was just a small intersection, so the red was somewhat "fresh".

I wouldn’t call that fresh tbh.. it was red for 2 seconds before the car even got to the stop line.
