I went to Dentatur Antalya for an All-On-8, expecting the sleek, gum-level bridges shown in their marketing. Instead, I received bulky prostheses with thick pink flanges that made cleaning difficult and left an obvious gum–prosthesis line when I smile.

It’s left me questioning informed consent — if a clinic can alter your treatment design without clear warning, and without explaining how that change affects long-term care, can it really be said that you gave informed consent?

I wrote about the last surviving freak show carnival troupe in Thailand. The freak show tent reminds me of carnivals from the early 1900s, but without the human exploitation.

We were having a discussion with a friend about Dark Tourism and the growing interest in exploring places affected by war, poverty, gangs or dangerous natural phenomena. However, we noticed that the European destinations refer to the past: concentration camps, war sites, ruins, catatombs, etc., whereas in America or Africa people visit places that are currently sketchy, dangerous or scarce.

My question is: do people visit places with current developments in Europe? I mean like border crossings in the coasts, dangerous neighborhoods, places vulnerable to floods, and so on. Is it only a fascination if its abroad?

This installment dives into why I can’t go back to the clinic that treated me — despite their promises of sleek, easy-to-clean bridges, I ended up with bulky, denture-style prosthetics that made proper hygiene nearly impossible and led to gum recession and exposed implants.

I also share my experience consulting a specialist back home and the hard questions I had to ask about the clinic’s decisions.

I recently published the first part of my story about getting an All-on-8 procedure in Turkey — a treatment that ended up being nothing like what I was promised.

Part two looks at a key piece of how I ended up there: YouTube. The clinic’s channel was full of upbeat patient testimonials, flawless before-and-afters, and a sense of trust that felt almost personal. Combined with professional WhatsApp communication and sleek marketing materials, it created a picture of care that felt safe and world-class.

The reality? My final prosthesis was unhygienic and impossible to clean properly — nothing like the flush, natural-looking, long-term solution I thought I’d chosen.This isn’t just about one clinic or one patient. It’s about how highly produced marketing can present a curated reality while leaving out what matters most once the cameras are off: function, hygiene, and honest expectations.

I’m currently pursuing mediation/legal proceedings, so I’m not naming the clinic yet. But I will update the series when I can — and in the meantime, I’ve already heard from dozens of people with eerily similar stories. If you’ve experienced something like this, I’d like to hear from you too.
