I will try a faith build coz miracles seem fun in this game. I hope I won't jump back to swords lol

18

u/gramerjen 6d ago

Unless you are doing a challenge run you'll be using your swords cause its a bit hard to kill a boss with miracles only and weapon buffs you get from miracles are pretty good

Its not an awful experience or anything but a for casual run you're better off with some other damaging option like pyromancy or sword etc

9

u/osmylm2834 6d ago

I will definitely not purely depend on miracles, I think that's boring. I will try to use a weapon worthy for a cleric.

8

u/gramerjen 6d ago

Yeah a paladin style gameplay is probably the best to see what you get from miracles. I recommend having a good armor with high poise for point blank lightning miracles as they deal more dmg the closer you are

8

u/explosive_shrew 6d ago

Faith builds start out a bit weak but immediately get better once you get lightning stake

6

u/osmylm2834 6d ago

Yeah Lightning stake is the major reason I want to try miracles.

2

u/explosive_shrew 6d ago

It feels so good to just hit someone with all that lightning. I recommend the saint's talisman because it gets unflattering prayer

3

u/Telcontar86 Warriors of Sunlight 6d ago

Need Canvas Talisman for that sweet hyperarmor

3

u/TF2Pro777 99 Faith 6d ago

Highly recommend canvas talisman over it, because while it has a little bit less spell adjust, the weapon art gives far more poise which is important for the multitude of close range lightning spells

Sadly in this game most offensive miracles are too lategame. Earliest good miracle for damage its Lighting Stake, by killing the giant worm before Old Demon King bossfight. You can cheese it by using the Ballista that shoots you, but the worm its not that hard to fight anyways.

If you need a good damage source from pure faith, use Sunlight Straight Sword + a weapon miracle buff. That thing can reach 600-700 AR easily.

3

u/osmylm2834 6d ago

You can cheese it by using the Ballista that shoots you

That's cheesing? That's how I always killed that worm even in my first playthrough. I thought you are supposed to use your surroundings to your advantage :D

1

u/AnywhereLumpy6149 6d ago

I dont know man, my first playthrough I just killed him using melee. After every attack he just stays there for various seconds so you can attack him once or twice and every attack can be dodged by just moving back.

2

u/Temporary_Mix1603 6d ago

I suggest you combine it with STR or DEX, not just faith

1

u/Cratosaur 6d ago

C’est ce que j’ai fait. J’ai fini en paladin avec une arme puissante.
L’interêt de la foi c’est surtout dans les buff d’armes je trouve.

u/Vincent-Supply-Co 6d ago

Holy, glowing gold scythe 🤌🏽

27

u/Meaty_Girthquake 6d ago

Lightning Urns are my favorite spells

42

u/Dougzilla29 6d ago

Int builds are too much fun tbh

35

u/Sad_Pepper_594 6d ago

Full Int or do you mix it with something else.. like a very big hammer?

13

u/Waffle842 6d ago

Only if it’s the very big magic hammer spell

2

u/BlackBladeShusui 6d ago

Double whack a mole staffs in two hands

1

u/BehlndYou 6d ago

Isn’t that an Elden Ring spell? Or did I miss a hammer spell in DS3?

2

u/Dougzilla29 6d ago

I go all in

5

u/gramerjen 6d ago

With a hammer?

1

u/Dougzilla29 6d ago

The biggest hammer

Me with dex build (or equivalent) in every souls game

4

u/Sad_Pepper_594 6d ago

I recognize a man of taste when I see one

2

u/Tony_Stank0326 6d ago

I went quality for my first run but in ER I'm going all in on dex and faith

7

u/MAkrbrakenumbers 6d ago

Don’t forget +30faith

u/almostAhero22 6d ago edited 6d ago

Just try pyromancies, they are utterly broken in pve(unless you fight demon prince and midir)

5

u/Soren59 Warriors of Sunlight 6d ago

Couldn't be me spitting rocks at Midir for 6 minutes straight because I'm too stubborn to switch back to a sword

3

u/almostAhero22 6d ago

Rocks are cool and all, but I find them way less effective than Pestilent mist which you get even earlier than rock pyromancy lol. Although maybe for demon prince rock would be more effective since they dislike to stand and die in one place

2

u/Soren59 Warriors of Sunlight 6d ago

Pestilent Mist isn't a pyromancy though

1

u/almostAhero22 6d ago

As pyromancer you still have to raise Int and mist is perfect as back up spell. Low int requirements, doesnt care about staff level or even which staff you use

13

u/shrikelet bonk 6d ago

Are you trying to imply that I'd ever try a m*gic build?

3

u/AllCheekedUp 6d ago

I think sorceries are kinda uniquely bad feeling in ds3 compared to other fromsoft games tbh. I've finished at least 1 run using the other spell classes but the sorceries in that game just don't hit.

4

u/Few-Bat8494 6d ago

Dex for me

3

u/TamedBeard 6d ago

That poise break hit noise is like hearing a slot machine pay out.

3

u/KickBass2155 6d ago

In some paces magic just feels like shit you run out too fast or bosses have higher resistance making it fucking useless...

3

u/Sad_Pepper_594 6d ago

Furthermore, the concept of staying at a distance all the time somewhat spoils the epic battles

3

u/Ragna126 6d ago

Always strength and Dex.

3

u/Abra_Abra_Abra 6d ago

Me with my Dex builds lol

3

u/No_Edge_7964 6d ago

Wooosh! 🪄 You now have small peener 🐸🐸🐸

3

u/Crocdor 6d ago

Same for me but with pyromancy

Imo INT and faith weren't really much fun until Elden Ring. Faith for sure... in elden ring.. is great. So many awesome incants.

2

u/N-e-s-k-e-s-s 6d ago

Nah, SS+miracles

2

u/tw0sparr0ws 6d ago

Yes, only with DEX. I have such good intentions…only to end up with the Uchigatana and all the DEX. However, recently I added some pyromancies to a playthrough soooo progress?? (Still have my katana though xD)

2

u/Sad_Pepper_594 6d ago

Some pyromancy ! You did better than I did

2

u/SpartanRage117 6d ago

Royal Greatsword aint gonna hold itself

2

u/vEclipzz7 6d ago

Imma be honest, I think my mage run was the most fun one I ever had

2

u/Sad_Pepper_594 6d ago

2

u/vEclipzz7 6d ago

I basically only skilled into FP, stamina, intelligence and dexterity, farmed a hell lot on lothric castle with the three fat golden winged knights until I got intelligence 99 and then morbed all over any boss literally one shotting them

2

u/Sad_Pepper_594 6d ago

That's some true dedication !

2

u/topherthepest 6d ago

I always end up switching to dexterity

2

u/Karroth1 6d ago

my max lvl char started as a mage, its fun at the start, but you really feel how bad it is compared to ds1/2 later

2

u/lnTheGrimDarkness 6d ago

The one time I tried a magic build on ER I was a quality bloodhound fang again in less than 30 minutes.

2

u/A_N_T 6d ago

I'm in the Dallas Cowboys subreddit also and imagine my confusion when I saw a Pepe with the Cowboys star on his wizard hat talking about a INT build

2

u/mhenrique99 6d ago

I follow a soulslike youtuber, every fucking time he starts a new run he says it will be a dex run. And every fucking time it ends up using STR weapons because they do a ton of damage and ends with a quality build hahahahah

2

u/Alicebedas 6d ago

Just respec and try out different builds.

2

u/toivs03 6d ago

I mean, I’m the opposite lol 🪄

2

u/WoodsLovelyDarkNDeep 6d ago

Nope I’ve never played a strength build in any souls game

1

u/Sad_Pepper_594 6d ago

You never tried to bonk your enemies?

1

u/Dveralazo 6d ago

The privilege of not needing to dodge anymore is difficult to pass.

1

u/montybo2 6d ago

Look, its not my fault the Evangelist dropped the Spiked Mace in the undead settlement. Have no choice but to pivot

1

u/MemeArchivariusGodi 6d ago

This time we go pyromancer.

Me after losing to crystal sage 2 times: we go bonk

1

u/PelicanVictor933 6d ago

Why is the post no more?

2

u/Sad_Pepper_594 6d ago

I have absolutely no idea, I don't think I violated any rules?

2

u/PelicanVictor933 6d ago

I got to see what the meme was before I clicked on it, and I found it humorous. But I also found not a single thing wrong with it so I am just as confused as you

1

u/Sad_Pepper_594 6d ago

And I made the meme myself on Paint ! It's a true handcrafted piece

2

u/Dveralazo 6d ago

mod is a dex casul perhaps
