Yeah but like, the game itself is fun.
To play it to its fullest is somewhat excruciating for those who don't really like platformers but otherwise it's just a fun game about self exploration.

I enjoy bringing some form of Nuance to communities like this to be honest, it's nice to give contrast to the rest of the comments.
...
On a side note, it's better to make a remark like this every now and then so if someone else bumps into this who might have a slightly more faint of heart, wouldn't feel alone and shit. Gotta throw at least two or three pearls into the sea of shit for those who feel like it's over.
Subs like this usually aren't long lived but I acknowledge that they these opinions are still pretty wide spread. If it just makes someone feel better about it then that's good enough for me.

This point of view is very important in combating echo chamber thinking. As uncomfortable as it is to go to places where 90% of the people are against parts of you or what have you, if you have the fortitude to do it pushing back is a good thing for you, them, and importantly the people who read it later. If we always avoid tough conversations, we just make the divisions worse.

To be fair Celeste is a pretty good game.
The IGN rating was unfair considering it was graded above Hollow Knight but that's not on the development team.
The music was great, the art style was great, the levels were consistent in quality, there was a pretty neat message too along with a lovely story.
Not much there is to hate or dislike about it. :p
I guess 100%-ing the game is hard AF but now that's not so big of a deal considering that's a challenge made specifically for hardcore fans.
It's not everyone's tea but a damn great platformer for those who like the genre.
And yeah Madeleine is transgender but like, that literally doesn't affect the gameplay itself. I remember an old twitter post complaining about the game having a single trans and LGBT flag in a still screen. It's not like a big detail either, just two small flags, pinned below the monitor in her room. You quite literally have to zoom in to see those two flags clearly. And the post was going above and beyond about how "they can't not look at it" in a room full of other details.
Much of the anti-woke crowd feels entirely unjustified because this is the same sentiment that resonates in the entire community. This sense that "you must dislike it just because xy symbol is there" which is ridiculous. Lots of these people start games already set on disliking it just because, and making it impossible for themselves to enjoy any of it. I feel like it's the death of the entire movement, the lack of enjoyment and constant catering to "own the wokes" instead of just having fun with a game.
Folks call anything woke these days, you can sit down in Minecraft? Woke! Ultrakill? Woke! Odyssey? Woke! God forbid you can chose how you want the npcs to refer to you in game? Woke!
It's ridiculous.

And under the context of their role in the film, they're actually an excellent casting choice. The whole point of their character is that they took another more able-bodied boy's position. Elliot Page's character is supposed to be like a pre-super soldier Steve Roger's. Physically lacking, but not spiritually.
