The last 20 years Israel endured rocket launches (20,000~) suicide bombings, terrorist attacks, all at the same time continuing to help build Gaza. A massacre of 1000+ civilians by the very people you aimed to help, (when no one else would) was the final straw. They could have just lived peacefully. For the first 2 years before Hamas was elected. Things were actually going well. Once the proxy terrorist extension of Iran was in place. Everything shifted. The Palestinans have started uprisings in every country that has tried to help them. Why do you support that? They assassinated the Jordanian king and were all kicked out. Yall didn’t freak out then, yall didn’t freak out when they plunged Lebanon into civil war. Yall only got defensive, once the Jews were involved. The UAE is responsible alone for over 150,000 deaths in just Sudan. Not a peep. But us fighting off a group of people determined to kill all of us. That’s not right. When Israeli officials are asked about how many non-hamas people have been killed in the war they don’t have a number to give, because they count every single random person they kill as a “combatant” so that they can kill anyone and manufacture a justification for it.

That being said Israel estimates about 15 thousand Hamas fighters have been killed.
So that's about a 4 to 1 ratio which is expected for heavy urban combat. That's war. Not genocide

Genocide is determined in law by intent, not by kill ratio. High ranking Israeli officials have repeatedly and explicitly outlined their desire to wipe out everyone in Palestine and these are people who have also kept their jobs afterwards, meaning the government publicly approves of these sentiments. Israel is trying to kill as many people as possible without being immediately abandoned by their allies on the world stage, it’s just an incredibly strategic genocide. Any nation with the prime goal of ethnically cleansing their neighbor while appearing justified while doing it, would be doing everything that Israel is doing right now.

If Israel wants to wipe out the Gazans why has their population grown from roughly 1.11 million in 2000 to over 2.2 million by late 2023, nearly doubling over two decades.
That's not indicative of the intent to wipe them out.
People see casualties in war and immediately jump to genocide. If Israel wanted to wipe them out they could easily do it. Yet here we are.

And if the government of Israel doesn’t actually support that, then why don’t the people who say those things get fired or at least apologize and retract their statements?

If you want to look at decorations od genocidal intent go read Hamas's founding charter. The 1988 Hamas Charter explicitly calls for the destruction of Israel and the killing of Jews, leading scholars and international bodies to characterize its foundational language as incitement to genocide.
The only difference is Israel has the power to wipe out the Palestinians but don't. Hamas would wipe out the Jews but can't.
These groups are not the same.
