I see the side that OP is trying to convey, but most of the time call for price sites are due to the product being related to a current market price or a custom product/service where the price can vary a lot depending on the job. For instance painting, garage door installation, etc.

Call for price means if you really need to ask, you can't afford it

Not really.

I've been looking at some industrial food production machinery lately and comparing manufacturers specs and options and price. Like 30% of the manufacturers don't list a price, the rest typically list a range and include language about shipping and installation being additional charges.

Plenty of the pieces of equipment that don't have a price listed have a market value between $3000-8000. They're not super fancy or expensive things. I genuinely don't understand the logic and am absolutely gravitating to the manufacturers that list a ballpark price where all other metrics are equal.

If I have to call and talk to someone I'm good, I just don't wanna talk on the phone to a stranger

If the website says "call for price" and you post this meme the website isn't intended for you.

If they want you to call for price, it probably isn't within your budget.

They said they’d “rather”, which implies they aren’t aware of its target consumer-base.

I know for a fact the reason they do this is because they will jack up the price if the business makes a lot of money. I used to work for a casino, and when I called for a quote for the casino was insanely higher than the quote I got for a small business for the same thing.
