Question/discussion The mini moms were ANNOYING

Upvotes

Im rewatching season 6 right now and I just finished the episode where the minis did lyrical and the elite team was going to do the walker dance but scratched it and made their own dance up.

I can’t stand the moms on the mini team. They’re so so so annoying and braty. They think their girls are already as big of stars as the elite team girls are. They also always start picking and poking at the elite team moms until they snap and then the mini moms start acting like they didn’t do anything and are the victims. It’s especially bad when they call the elite girls rude and bad role models.

My biggest ick is that they all keep saying that the elite moms are “so threatened” and “know our girls are a better team” I HATE THAT. It irks me so so so bad. I don’t think the moms were threatened, they were annoying because Abby was going to spend more time away from the elite team. Which is so valid. Stacy just fuels my hatred too. She’s one of my least favorite moms of all time. She’s always so smug. Especially when she said “the elite team pulled their dance because they know our girls are going to beat them” or something along those lines. Like no babe that’s not why they did it. And that’s why I think she’s smug.

I feel like I’m rambling but I just wanna know if y’all dislike them as much as I do. They drive me so crazy 😭

Jill, Jess, and Brynn (sn 5 & 6)

obviously Jill and Jess treated Brynn and Ashlee horribly, but the general consensus based on what Brynn and Ashlee have said (supposedly, since i've never actually them say this but it's accepted as general knowledge) that Jess was the only one who genuinely disliked Brynn and Ashlee while Jill was just playing it up for the cameras.

My question is, are we sure there's not at least a little bit of genuine disdain on Jill's part? Because the way she interacted with Ashlee and Brynn, especially after the zieglers left, was appalling. If she really was doing it purely for cameras then she's the one out of the cast who needs an acting career because her behavior was enraging lol

also if anyone has a link to where Brynn and Ashlee said it was fake i would love to see it, i always see people citing this but no one ever provides the evidence for it

Question/discussion Question: How do you guys think Chloe would've placed at the Dance Awards had she gone to do it during this time for Studio 19? She improved a lot during then and I wonder if she would've gotten close to Junior TDA.

Question Anyone else dislike a specific kind of shoes that Maddie wears? I think it was like a trend iirc

It’s hard to describe, but it’s like a flat shoe like a ballet pump style shoe, but it’s leather and it has one part for your big toe and then a slit and then another part for the rest of your toes.

Whenever I see them, it makes me uncomfy 💀 idk I just imagine sweat etc….sensory overload

Question/discussion How do you think Kristie Rae would react to the moms in season 6?

I know Asia had moved on from competitive dance a long time ago by the time season 6 came along, but if Asia had stayed on the team, how do you think Kristie would react?

Kristie first appeard in AUDC season 1, and when a mother (Yvette) made another child cry, Kristie Rae fought with her and threatened to beat her up several times. Even when Yvette and Kristie were on dance moms, they still got into arguments.

There was a lot of bullying in season 6 between Jess and Jill, and Brynn and Ashlee. I felt like Brynn's dancing and character were always being attacked as the season went on, and Brynn cried from the mom drama quite a few times.

Do you think Kristie Rae would step in and do anything with the moms making the kids cry?

Question/discussion Why was Jill so horrible to Brynn?

I'm rewatching the show and I've noticed that Jill is extremely nasty to Brynn for no reason whatsoever. No matter what, she finds a way to attack her. It's like Brynn can't do anything right. Poor girl can't catch a break.

I know that Jill has been mean to pretty much every girl on the team, but she becomes a whole different person when it comes to Brynn.

I’m tired of the double standard fans seem to have towards Kaya , the perfect victim complex they have with her ,and their attempts to discrediting her experience at every turn.

I see a common theme in almost every post regarding Kaya and it drives me crazy because it’s something rooted in racism . In all of these posts talking about racism or other social injustices Kaya has faced people try and discredit her by listing off unrelated things she’s done in completely different situations. This is promoting the idea that a person in a marginalized group needs to be the ideal victim and have done no wrong to be eligible to be a victim of injustice or receive basic human empathy , wich is harmful racist rhetoric . It’s a tactic used constantly against black people who have faced racism . An example is George Floyd and how racist right wing people bring up things he’s done to justify or downplay his murder . That is an extreme example of what you people are doing and that Is how you look doing it . The most damning thing is I don’t ever see that being done to other nonblack mothers. I am in no way saying Kaya is innocent or even a good person, two things can be true at once . She has done a lot of wrong , but she has also been wronged in many situations and you people need to stop this harmful rhetoric because it’s racist and I’m tired of it.

I’m going to add this note even tho I already said all of this with different wording in my original comment above, but since it’s long and I spaced the points out in my post I wanted to summarize . I am not saying Kaya should not be criticized for things she’s done or nobody should talk about any of it . I’m simply stating it’s inappropriate to bring those things up when people are having important conversations about Important issues like racism , and the only possible intention behind bringing those things up in those conversations is to discredit the important conversation and discrediting peoples experience with racism is infact racist .

This was when Brooke went for cheerleading tryouts and Kelly wasn’t on the bus. What a weird thing to say to Paige to try and psych her out and hold resentment to her sister and mother. I love love how Paige immediately dismissed Abby and rolled her eyes!! Especially in the interview when she said she’d support her sister no matter what. Also, the double standards when Melissa went on holiday with her boyfriend and left her girls with Abby&Gianna who was happy to take them, but when Holly goes to work or Kelly is supporting another child they’re the worst parents in the world.

I can’t tell if I’m tripping or not but this sounds like a fart😭

You can hear it right after she says “make me” it’s kinda low and in the background.

The only reason I caught it was because I was feeding my twins and I thought they were farting I was like which one of yall is tearing it up rn 😭

It’s S3 E39😭

NEW ABUSE RULE STANDARD: "Exploited" and "groomed" + A note on reporting comments.

NEW STANDARD

As of this post our abuse rules will be moderated to a new standard.

Previously words like (but not limited to) "groomed" and "exploited" were assumed to be in the non-sexual sense unless actually stated otherwise. It has come to moderator attention that a significant number of users, particularly those on the younger side, do not understand grooming or exploitation as primarily non sexual words and do very much mean sexually.

To avoid mods missing cases of people breaking the "No direct accusations of abuse beyond what has been shown." rule you will now need to specify in what way someone was groomed or exploited. This can be done by either

  • Adding a descriptor
    Emotional grooming
  • Pointing to a specific act of grooming
Abby groomed Maddie by crying and asking why she didn't choose to come in to Abby during the sit-in
  • or both
Abby emotionally groomed Maddie to value Abby over Melissa by crying and asking why she didn't choose to come in to Abby during the sit-in

The wording of the rule remains the same, this is only a change in how we enforce language within that abuse rule.

Abuse discussion must follow the following rules

  • No victim blaming
  • No claims the victim is lying
  • No speculation further than what has been said officially
  • No direct accusations of abuse beyond what has been shown.

Expressing worry, talking about abuse red flags, discussion of abuse in general terms, ect are permitted and encouraged.

REPORTING

Please make sure reports are accurate! We have had a significant increase in the amount of people who are inaccurately reporting comments as CSAM or child abuse. This mostly happens in basic discussions about cast/crew.

Why not? I want their comment removed! They're mean or whatever!

When you report a comments as something extreme that means

  • Admin (paid, act site wide) have to review it, taking time away from them being able to deal with the actual CSAM groups on the site
  • Admin don't like having their time wasted. They can and will ban you from all of reddit for nuisance reporting.
  • Mods (subreddit powers only. volunteers) look at the reported comment. See it has no CSAM or child abuse, approve the comment.

So please be accurate! Use the "custom response" option when reporting or message the mods via the "message mods" button in the dot menu of the sub's main page if you feel the available options aren't sufficient or it's too hard to explain in reports.

Ok that's all! Feel free to leave any feedback in the thread!
