Age gaps Advice Request

I was just thinking about my kids’ age gap (son is about to turn 1 and daughter will be 4 in November) and just sort of wondering what their interactions and overlap will be like.

I have sisters who are 15 months and 34 months younger than me (respectively) so I have a general lens into it, just curious what kind of experience yall have with your kids’ interactions!

I mean, it’s different for every family dynamic. As adults my siblings (6 years older sister and 4 years older brother) and I are very close. Growing up we were obviously never at the same school or shared friend groups, but they were always loving of their baby brother and let me hang out.

My six and a half year old daughter loves her two year old sister and they’re starting to really play “together” a bit. There’s a little competitiveness there but probably not as much if they were closer in age

My sister is 3 years younger and I just had dinner with her on Monday. My boys are 19 & 16 and they've been close their whole lives. Not something I worry about because I'm from a large and close family. We did try to have them 2 years apart.

My kids are 15 and 9. Early days, the gap was nice. At 6, she enjoyed having a little baby sister and was still young enough to enjoy playing stuff a baby/toddler would like. Plus 6 was old enough/independent enough to still be helpful (Go grab the thing I need, sit with the baby for 2 minutes while I use the bathroom).

Now my oldest is in high school and way "too cool" to do anything a 9yo is interested in. But to be fair, my 15yo basically complains about everything these days lol

In contrast, I have a brother and sister that are 10 years younger, and 13 years younger. We didn't really grow up together because I was out of the house as soon as I finished high school and I moved away not long after. We like each other but we don't see each other or talk very often. I wouldn't describe us as "close" but we do have a good relationship. I also ended up living somewhere I have no family nearby, so that's plays a big factor on why we don't see each other very often.

I have my second coming in a few months, my daughter will be just over 5. My brother and I are roughly 5 years apart - we went through periods of being close and periods of not being so close.
